I measured my fuel tank today.
100 inches length, 41 inches wide and 9 inches in height.
That comes out to about 159 gallon fuel tank? I think I did the part part right.
1988 Flx Metro.

Could that be possible?
I have been told a few number from 100 and 125.
The fuel tank does not have a model number on it.
The fuel tank is as long as the bus is wide and is rectangular in shape.

I would like to be able to figured out mpg.

sounds good
Box shape.

A box shape that has dimensions 100 inches by 41 inches by 9 inches has a volume of:

Volume
= 0.60468 cubic meters
= 604680 cubic centimeters
= 0.7909 cubic yards
= 21.354 cubic feet
= 36900 cubic inches
= 159.74 U.S. gallons
= 604.68 liters
* calculations accurate to 5 decimal places of precision

Adrian,

You do not need to know the size of your tank to check mpg. Just fill her up. not the miles driven. Re fill her and divide the miles by gallons. If you keep a log as to every fill up you can come up with a rolling average.

Go with johns4104s recipe as what you can put in it varies with how it sit, lean, or how much the fill neck protuse in the tank, & usely a tank never fill to the size capacity.

I was hoping to learn how accurate the fuel gauge is that was installed by the previous owner.

Use 90% or about 140gal as usable.  You DON'T ever want to run out of fuel-it is a BIG pain to get it running again. Good Luck, TomC

My math must be off LOL! 100X41X9divided by 288Cu"/gal = 128.125gals capacity. If that isn't right, then I have some hellacious sized tanks on my coach. FWIW

Too much time on my hands so
1 US dry gallon = 268.802 cu
1 US liquid gallon = 231 cu I guess this time your math was twice wrong :)
Mine would be infinitely wrong were it not for the internet.

I stand corrected Zub ??? You are absolutely correct. I went to an aquarium site and sure enough = 159.74 US gallons. My bad. I'll shut up now and go back to my corner. Will
