When I had my 8V92TA rebuilt, we used Jasper Engines and for good reason there are friendly ties between myself and Penske/Jasper, and it saved some cash too!  The problem I have was created by myself being totally ignorant at the time........point being on the back of the 8V92 there are four positions for accessory drives, Delco DN50, Bendix Compressor, and a power steering drive.  I'm going to add a drawing here of the accessory drive positions.    Drive position 4 was for my power steering pump, in my newness (ignorance) when the engine was rebuilt the new engine didn't have the drive gears for position 4, therefor is my problem.  Drive position 4 is a 2.05:1 ratio that is CCW. If you look at blower accessory drive number 3 it is a 2.05:1 drive that is CW.  In the Detriot Diesel manual the description is the same for both drives and the drive flanges are the same!  OK, I can purchase a CW rotation power steering pump and the drives look like they will match up.  I need someone like Don Fairchild or other knowledgeable DD guy to tell me this will work.   If this doesn't work I either have to find, engineer, machine an external power steering pump and run it off of the belt driven accessory drive number 3, or the last and most expensive route is to remove the complete rear of the engine and replace the block endplate with the drive for accessory drive position number 4..........that is going to be expensive!  I have all of the parts to do that with...........but if drive postion 3 is the same I don't need to!!!!!!..........Please I could use some help here!

Pat, are you using the Eaton pump ( the round one that looks like can) the way I do it is remove the belt drive use a adapter and the 2 bolt Vickers pump.
Then move the belt drive to where the power steering pump and use a belt driven alternator I am no big fan of those DN50's attached to the engine but if you have the alternator already I understand.

good luck

Clifford, I'm using the Vickers pump......it was on the 8V71 and was new and if I had, had my head on straight I wouldn't have made this mistake.....lol!  The Delco is brand new and ready to go back on! But that is food for thought.......I could check into replacing the end bell on the Delco!  When you say the Eaton pump and removing the belt drive, are you meaning the drive number 3? that runs off of the blower drive accessory position?...........Thanks for the idea's Clifford!  I've also seen the Delco driven from the front accessory drive.......but i want that for my driver Air condition compressor!  I came back.........what is the number on the Eaton drive?

Pat, the easiest for you would be install a CW pump at #3 and the other drives will be ok for the alternator and air compressor.
If you have the adpater and drive for the Vickers pump from # 4 it will work on # 3  if not call  Nick at Nimco he will have the right parts

Clifford, I just spent the last hour out there looking at acc drv position 3 and I believe you are right, I have just about all of the gaskets, bolts and parts do do this......i may need a drive flange for the cam shaft and bolts, to run the compressor which I just purchased from ebay......($200) remanufactured by bendix), my power steering pump (vickers) is mounted on the long pedestal which works over the DelcoDN50 all I need is to remove the tach drive from the left bank cam and I'm not sure how it comes off of the cam......I believe its threaded but not sure if its left or right thread?.....You've been a great help I really appreciate this!  I'm looking for a CW Vickers pump now!   Thanks again!

muddog16, Check your pump out well. Many of those pumps are reversable by repositioning the main body that houses the vanes. Can not remember if you turn it end
for end or rotate to another spot. (Senior moment) HTH  06 Bill   4106

OK it seems as soon as I locate a pump the drive situation will be fixed.  One more problem, on the cam shaft the left bank cam was for the tach drive......how does the tach drive shaft come out of the end of the cam.......is it pressed in or threaded and if threaded is it left or right hand thread?
