Hey guys, what do you think of these?
I ran across a guy who was selling these C&D Technology batteries. They are 12 volts but the price is good, under $50.00 each. I was told they spent $350.00 each for them last fall though I've seen them for $200.00
They were purchased by a large local company for IT backup and then they phased them out for another system this year.

I have batteries from that same company.  Mine are the 475 ones so they weigh 100 lbs each.

So far they work much better than my golf cart batteries, but I haven't done any real long trips with them yet.

Brian,
How many are you running?
What kind of load are you putting on them and how long do they hold up?

I picked up eight of these and I'm hoping they'll work out alright. Right now I'm putting them on my home made solar panel to see how well each works with my little 3k inverter.

The guy had 16 of them and said that his brother in law wanted the other 8. I could ask to make sure but I'd bet that shipping them would be really expensive. I'm in Utah in the middle of nothing, like my tag says, 500 miles from any other large city.
They are available retail though....for about $200.00 each.

I'll email the guy and ask if they are still around. You never know. ;)

Re: dogs, thanks.
Our Lexie (Elexa V Rikah-Haus) is part Czech, her mother is Zilla V Lintichu another award dog (all these grade dogs are though by definition aren't they?) who was also a model for dog food and calenders of all things :)
Her father was (NASS) E.T Von Sendling, an import out of east Germany with Ursus blood though some say that Ursus blood is too dominant now after being used to stud so much after winning the 2000 world Sieger.
This little one as I said is the niece of our Lexie via her sister Enschi V Rikah-Haus with Ork's new blood out of east Germany, also pretty much same as the Czech lines, nothing like the new eastern European blood since the wall came down!
This new pup has demonstrated very high drive with strong prey drive. Already dominated an 11 month old GSD and a Pomeranian and she is only 12 weeks, she is the boss or so she thinks. I'm going to have my hands full with this one.
I'll shut up now on the dogs, we should talk sometime off forum though.

I have 6 of the batteries in my bus.  They are set up in series and parallel for 24 volts.  I actually have a spare as the guy had 7 total.  No idea how long they will hold up as I haven't been on a real trip with them yet.  My load is a household fridge along with various laptops and other electronics plugged in.  I also have a ton of 24 volt fluorescent lights in my bus.

I was impressed that all of the batteries still read 12.4 volts and above after sitting all winter in my garage.  I thought they might be junk after sitting so long.  My initial testing seems to indicate these will work better than my golf cart batteries.

One other note:  I personally wouldn't buy these unless you get a really good deal on them like Paladin and I did.  These are mainly designed for UPS applications.  There are other AGM batteries with a better cost per amp hour.
