Fellows,

What should the governed RPM setting be for my 86 8V92T?

How does one go about adjusting this setting?

Doug, mine is set at 2250 rpm no load the factory setting is 1900 or 2100 rpm I'll send you a email on how do it.
If you don't have a good electronic hand held no contact tack gun don't do it with the dash tack because they are not that accurate.
Anyway you can post a photo of the back of the governor housing so I can tell if you have a tamper proof one or not
Another way you can tell  on the left side on the back of the housing there is a cylinder looking thing about 4 inches long check and see if you can feel 2 bolt heads if so no problem but if you feel 1 bolt it may be a problem if the plug is still in it
good luck

2250rpm would be my choice as the highest no load setting for a 92 series.  92's do not like high rpm-compared to a 71 series that can be turned up to 2600rpm without problem (my 8V-71 is at 2400rpm).  Good Luck, TomC
