Can't understan why you 4509 gets such bad mileage. My 4104 gets between 12 and 14 every trip.

6 to 7 going and 6 to 7 coming back  that makes 12 to 14 mpr doesn't it

Uncle Ned, I think your right and it sure makes a person feel better in this economy if nothing else. It kind of reminded me of the Ma and Pa Kettle math lesson. Ma and Pa Kettle Math Lesson

That was great! I can't argue with the math.  :D Mitch

Dang at hospital a few days and find out my bussing days may be over they took my 4905 and made it into a 4509 and changed out my 8V71 naturallu aspirated and tryed to put a turbo on it.

Well in all honesty I may have to put the bus up for sale as I'm losing my eysite due to diabetes and don't want to take a chance of hurting someone or bending the old girl up.

Well after 3 tours in Nam and on pres Reagans protection team a tad over 9 years I guess I can say it's been a hell of a ride and not all the roads were paved.

Doctor want me to try a new procedure of the cornea transplant so will see what happens.

Nick right now I can't see well enough to put up any pictures.

Thanks for all the good times  and give em hell.

Quartzsite,

Well, I can't beat Ned but I can get 10.5 on pretty level ground and 8 in the mts with 4104, 671 and 4 sp. I can't complain about that.

Of course I don't go over 60 - 65 on the level and 45 in the mts either, but that doesn't bother me, I'm along for the sights.

Larry,

I am sorry to hear about the eyesite. That is something that I know I take for granted. I just expect to be able to see, but in reality, it is an incredible gift from God. Thanks for the sobering reminder to be grateful.

Had a trip last month from L.A. to Mammoth, then over the mountains to gold country, to Sacramento Delta, Bay area and home.  Lots of mountain driving.  With the gen usage taken out (80 hours) I got just over 6 mpg.  With the gen use 4.63mpg.  Needless to say, I'm looking forward to my truck that I know will get more in the 7-9 mpg range.  Good Luck, TomC

My 5C 6V71 automatic averaged around 12 MPG, Yep 5 in the city and 7 on the Hiway.  7+5=12!!!!!

I never figured the mileage, I did not know, I did not want to know. If I had known I probobly would have quit driveing it!!!!!!!

I have a different point of view on bus MPG. I am used to 1.63 MPG from our boat when cruising so if I get 6 MPG from the bus, I am thrilled. It all depends on your frame of reference.

On a more serious note, to Larry, I have been in the eyecare field 25+ years. While I know longer see patients, I still have strong ties to some of the best eye surgeons in the USA here in Florida. If I can help in any way, do not hesitate to ask.

All the best,

Paul
