I hope I am not violating any protocols here.  This is a cut and paste from the GMC-Busnuts group.  I don't know any of these folks and I'm about as far from Oregon as you can get.

Do we have anyone around Venata, Oregon as near as I can tell it is near Eugene maybe someone in the area could go by Mr. Villalobos place and get his bus out of gear and put it in his drive way so it won't be lost to him unless he just insists on selling it.

I called him and left a message suggesting he call his local school bus yard and ask for help there. If its like the district I worked for they will find someone to come help him. Also a charter bus company might help. FWIW

I will be happy to help him.  I am clueless as to what to do where. ???  Tell me what to do and I will do that for the guy.  I am replacing the wheel bearings in my Ford PU tomorrow but after that I can travel.  Remember now, detailed instructions and pics would help.  Give me a hint as to what tools I should take with me. ???

Happy to help and I can count the tires and windows and tell you if it smoked at start up and if so for how long. :)

Hi John,

Sounds like the linkage is just hung in two gears. I don't know this bus, but most have an access panel between the first row of seats that lets you into the shift rods. Try to visualize what bar looks to far foreward or backward in comparison to the other and pry it in line with the other one and when one of them moves a few inches it should be back in neutral. A 2 or 3 foot cheater pipe usually works, you just look for somewhere to get some leverage and start pushing and pulling and when one moves back into line you should be good to go. If you can't get to them from inside the front, you may have to pry on the levers that come out of the transmission. You can't hurt it so don't worry about being to gentle.

John,

It's a 4104, the transmission is very easy to get to.  You will need help from the drivers seat to hold down the clutch while you work.

Just disconnect the linkages at the tranny and get both levers in the neutral (center) position.  Chances are it's hung up in the transmission itself.  Usually not that hard to get straightened out.

My posts are screwing up again.  I answered you guys an hour ago.  I said i will be happy to help him out as best I can.  I sent him my phone number and email and said that this evening or tomorrow would work for me.  Haven't heard back just yet.

We had a list of people that were willing to help traveling Knuts.  I listed my name and the location of from Salem to Roseburg, Orygun.  I have most of the hand tools any might need and a small compressor.  Can anybody find that list?  Tell me where, please.  Moderator????

I had this problem back with my old Spicer-shifted 4106. The rods were stuck, and I fixed it at the tranny (like Len posted) and then lubed up the connections under the shifter and it was never was a problem again.

That super-tall reverse always was, though.  8)
