We would have to add a axle to hold this monster up.  Would it be a tag or a bogey.Inquiring minds want to know.

Still planning on going west this fall just don't know dates yet.  momma has not told me the days yet.

Ned;

We could find a tag we could put duels on in the back and then find a front drive steer axle out of a military 6X and have a front wheel drive. If we set the engine under the bed should have room. You would be the first in your neighborhood to have one. Don't front wheel drives do better in the snow and ice. You know if we DDEC it, there are a couple 10Sp auto shifts
I have access to. make it a real go getter.

Hello Don,
Don't let Uncle Ned pull your chain. We followed Ned and Wilma from Palmento Cove campground to Westminster, SC on HWY 11 and he didn't slow down on the hills. He was also towing his van and motorcycle so he has a lot of power ( more than me ). I would  be hearing Huggy Bear's exhaust bouncing off the hills and see my speed start dropping and then I'd think, "change gears dummy! That's the sound of his engine, not yours." A fun day!

It is the story of a old hot rodder, never enough hp. Just think of 0ne of those 12v71 engines in the land speed record trucks in the back of huggy. Then we could really rock through the hill of north georgia.

Look forward to going to jacks this year with you and that beautiful mc5.

ps
Don has helped me with heating problems on huggy.  WE met at BK'S several years ago.

          Like you I've allways thought that you can't have too much power,a by-product of growing  up in the 50s and 60s when horsepower was most important part of the car (and I still think that way). I sure would like make the trip to Jack's with you, if I can arrange the time. We'll talk more about it as the time gets closer. We may see you over the 4th at the Cove, we are going to try.

Hello Don,
       I have a 8v71 natural with a 3.33 gear and 4 speed.  The bus will fly on the flats, 80 maybe.  I've  never tried it,(a wife thing) you know. Ha Ha. Someday I'd like to add a turbo, but the engine only has (as all buses sold) 40,000 miles, so we'll see.  Don do you think adding a turbo will help or hurt the fuel mileage?  I'm getting 8 mpg towing a suzuki sidekick.

Still looking! I would like to find a replacement out of another MCI!

Ed Hackenbruch

There is a 5 being parted out up in Edmonton. Look in the Spare Bus Parts section.
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

I have one that I took out of my MC7 just a couple of months ago.  Ran fine, has a 4 speed manual, removed it to install an 8-92/auto.  In the Tampa Bay area.  Give me a call.  941-725-0636 cell.  Ben

Also, it has about 10k miles on an inframe.  Has cradle as well.
