My bus is just as I purchased it with the generator muffler underneath the bus, it is a 8KW Isuzu diesel and what I am wondering is. 1 is there a spark aresting requirement for these? 2 How would I know if mine complies. I don't want to be the Bozo that sets the forest on fire. Thanks in advance for any input.

I do not know what the rules are as far as spark arrestors on diesel engines. I think different governing bodies have different rules (national parks, state parks, BLM, national forest, etc).
When camping, we always check for any tall grass under our generator muffler as well as our ProHeat exhaust.  Jack

I don't know about RV's but the FS requires spark arresting mufflers on the generators for contractors using light towers.

Check with Kubota, Isuzu, and Cat all of their engines in the towers are equipped with fire arresting mufflers.    good luck

spark arrestors are required on APU's on all federal and state lands., some other jurisdictions may or may not require them......

PP

The only Federal lands that I'm aware of not requiring arrestors are developed campgrounds-(Keyword=Developed) This includes any combustion type engine. Will

Sorry if it appears I'm hijacking the post.  How about spark arrested big main mufflers?  Are they available?  Are they required?  Thinking one piece without the additional add on.  Thanks.  HB of CJ

If you have sparks coming out of your "BIG" muffler then you won't have them very long... Almost any "tractor version muffler ( like kubota ) will be safe enough to run with on a diesel generator".

On a note about heat under the generator muffler. Get a large flat bread sheet pan and place it below the muffler on the ground. Also catches the drips.

Gasoline generators run way hotter than diesels so you have to be more careful about singeing stuff...
