Welcome boxcarokie,
I too have the Eagle single axle. I have had mine for 11 years and still love it!! Would be nice to have the 550 horsepower and 6 speed, but I will have to stay with the 6V92TA and HT740 transmission. As far as your original question about the jakes, I do not see much effect in high gear since the RPMs are too low, but if I gear down and get the RPMs up I have good holdback. As has been discussed on this board before, the jake settings are very important. The book calls for a slave cylinder to valve bridge of .059 for the 92 series engine, but I was not very happy with that. I changed mine to .057 and it works much better. Welcome to the madness and their are a few of us single axle Eagles here.

Never know how his Jakes are setup he may have one side only or a 2 stage with only one side working. For the 550 hp I doubt if he has that much HP the PO and sellers will tell you anything trying to make a sell.
I would like to know what model of 6 speed Allison he has the B500 with a double over drive would be hard to make work with a 3:73 or 3:36 gear I am thinking he has the 1000 series he will give us more info as he figures the bus out I hope.     good luck

Single axle 40ft? I thought all the single axle iggles were 35 ft.

luvrbus

Cody they were 35,37 and 40 Mol made the 37 ft it could be single axle or tag  but the s 10 was 35 or 40 ft      good luck

Okay, I went out to the storage yard today and took a gander at it ... IT HAS FOUR EXHAUST PORTS ... that makes it a 8V92rt something or rather and I took a picture of it but I cannot figure out how to post it.

Okay, I went out to storage and checked it out ... IT HAS FOUR EXHAUST PORTS .... that makes it an *V92RT something or rather.  I didn't take a picture of it, because I do not know how to post pictures, I am barely keeping my head above water on most of this if you want to know the truth.

It's a big hoss boys, hits on all eight.

I think most  8V92TA's are around 400 HP unless they have changed to larger injectors. Jerry

I went out to the storage yard and checked, it is an 8V92rt something or rather, 4 exhaust ports, that makes it a big horse and hitting on all eight.  No pictures, I am barely just keeping my  head above water on answering up.  Don't know how to post a picture.

Still not 550 hp do you know if it is a DDEC or a manual engine, looking from the front of the engine on the left side corner below the head there are numbers, serial and model stamped on the block if you can post those it will help us       good luck
