Great day yesterday! Finally done! Mostly... A few minor details to fix, I'll have them done today.

Thanks to my 15 year-old for filming, editing and posting the video. I am incapable of this kind of high tech wizardry!

It runs quite smoothly and pulls like a locomotive. I'm now looking for head rests and 4 point seat belts, LOL.

I'm only seeing 8 psi boost. I was expecting more. I will run the rack again to try and get it to run smoother yet. Off course, as it breaks in, it will get better. We'll see.

I was really hoping to have it ready for last weekend's BC Bus Nut rally we had here in Invermere, but I came to run the rack, things were out of whack. It took me a while to find the governor fork on the wrong side of the thrust bearing on the weight shaft... All is good now.

The louvers for ram air to the aftercooler turned out nice. I cut them out of the back panel off a slush machine. I realize they probably are not big enough. So I'm keeping an eye out for bigger ones. Or I could have a grill there and a couple of scoops about 2 or 3 inches wide.

Looks good-sounds great!  Two minor things- I think the injectors that Don Fairchild put in mine, even though he says they are 9G75's (they don't have tags), I think they are on the fat side putting out more then that because, when I stabbed the throttle like you did, I would get a big blast of black smoke-like a locomotive starting out.  Yours is not that bad.  Just don't push the pedal down real fast and give the turbo time to come up.  I had to install a fuel modulator that keeps the injectors from opening up until turbo boost is obtained.

Second-I would consider seriously in putting an electric fan on the intercooler.  Which way to have the fan running is simple.  With all your engine doors shut, have someone rev the engine up, then you feel outside the grill of the intercooler to see if any air is being pushed out by the radiator fan.  If you feel a good amount of air coming out, then have the fan run pushing the air from inside out to work with the radiator fan pressure.  If you do not feel any air coming out through the opening, then you can have the air being pulled through from the outside (the preferred way to get the cool outside air).
Don't be worried about turbo boost pressure-as long as when the bus is fully warmed up, your exhaust is clean with no black smoke, the turbo is working properly.  Good Luck, TomC

Job Well done! Great video, tell your 15 year old he/she did a great job!

Don't ya just love the sound of that Detroit blowing smoke, at least it's the right color if you know what I mean! ;D I'm sure all will get better as she gets run in and you will be very happy for such a task as you took on. I have followed your progress closely, I admire a man who can do that work and have the satisfaction and smile of a kid when finished.

Thanks for sharing, you have a great coach, one you don't see everyday! :)

Thanks everyone.

TomC, the rad fan is controlled by a stat and only spins when it is hot. I will do as you suggest to see which way the air is flowing through the intercooler. Should the intercooler fan run all the time, or how would it be controlled?

Yesterday's run: I was getting black smoke if I stepped on it hard, but I could control it by being carefull.

I will post some pics later.

Luvrbus, my kids filmed the video then downloaded it onto Photobucket. Once there, you left click on it, copy it, then paste it onto the post you've already opened on this board or anywhere you want. The copy thing is actually a ''copy shortcut" that posts a link to the video on Photobucket. Best is to ask a teenager or computer savvy person you know.
