I just talked to Zack at www.thesolar.biz about AGM batteries, and he recommended using these 2 volt 915AH batteries hooked in series.

He explained that hooking batteries up in parallel is not as efficient.

6 of these 2 volt batteries is quite expensive at around 2K, but if I only drain to 70% or less then they should last 8-10 years.

The big + is they are maintenance free.

I installed ten (10ea) Deka GC25 batteries in my -01 Eagle about six months ago.  I also installed a (2ea) Profill watering system which I got from:     Tom  RVPowerSupply.com  1 888 447 4552  at a good price.  Combo works just GREAT, with indeed a trivial task to squeeze the water bulbs a few strokes before each trip.  I had a previous AGM installation, and never got the stated AH performance.  As far as I am concerned, AGM stands for " Always Gonna Malinger".

There's a 24v Hi-Lo battery in my coach. Lots of power in 1 package. If you can find a core you can get it rebuilt for around $800.
I know a couple of people that use them and are very happy.

I started with 8 of the 12v 8D's. Died before 24 months. Went to 6 Trojan L-16 6volts, they were still going strong at 6 years. I last updated with 6 rolls-royce Surettes from Canada. They too are 6 volt and work great. Warranty in Rv applications is 8 years! I think they cost more now than when I got them from the distributor in Phoenix, but what doesn't.

I am hard on batteries. I check the water about once a year. Never have to add much. I have a household refrigerator and run my front roof air off the inverter when driving. I have a couple switch to couple the batteries to the 300 amp bus alternator.

I don't know much about birthing babies and electrical. But I do know what works for me over the past 15 years.

Current dealer cost for Lifeline 4d AGM's is $315 plus shipping - so 8d's should be about $350 - knowing the cost might get you a better deal with a hungry dealer that direct ships and doesn't have to touch them - Trojan has AGM's - when I previously was going to use them I called around until I got a wholesale price - If you have a friend in Marine or RV business or a tax ID # and a commercial location you should get a decent wholesale price and you can Will call them and save shipping - They were less than half the cost of the cheapest price quoted for Lifelines - FWIW and HTH

Joe, don't  know what you paid for the Surettes but I check on 6 of the 830 amps 6 volts and they were 1100 dollars each and that was the best deal I found in AZ.Nice batteries but very expensive now.Became a no brainer for me after I did the math over 7 grand with shipping  that amount will buy you 15 sets of 6 from Costco or Sams even  lasting only 5 years per set that would give 75 years of batteries

Seems I paid about $1600 for the 6. The distributor and business licence is theway to go. I did both.

Mine are 595ah each.
