I dont know if I can ask a question about selling something on here, not trying to sell it here, just want to know if anyone has any suggestions.  We have a motor that  came out of a setra bus. We got it, thinking of converting it, then decided to convert a dina. Anyhow, we got rid of the bus, but kept the motor thinking if we got another bus that didnt have the 60 in it, we could change it. So..... now we dont need it. The motor came out of a running setra in a tour fleet, that the brake retarder caught fire. The engine wasnt damaged at all, and was running fine. It is just the engine, not alternator, starters, etc.  Oh, the bus was a 1999. It had 300,000 miles on it. Anyhow, I am trying to find out where the best place is to sell it, and what it would be worth. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

What size is it? Being a 99 its probably an 11.

As a proud Setra owner I just want it known that it would be a huge sin for that engine to go in anything but another Setra!

I believe they discontinued the 11.1 in the mid to late 1990s.  Dina switched to the 12.7 in 1997 or 1998 because they couldn't get the 11.1 anymore.

I just talked to Ruthi's husband and that Series 60 is missing the turbo, intake, alternator, and who knows what else.  It might not be the best for a repower unless someone wants to hunt for the missing pieces.

All of those parts are readily available.

ruthi

As was stated already, those parts are readily availiable, and you couldnt ask for a better motor. That motor is the reason we got the bus we got. It  will get up and go. I dont know the true value, I do know that we paid a pretty penny to  get that motor with  the setra. I will get back to ya bk when we find out more info. Dont want to make a killing on it, just fair. Thanks, to be continued. ;D

My husband did say it is just the engine. So, yes, the rest would have to be obtained. That is the way we bought it.

I don't know BK. It sounds like it might be worth 100 bucks, since it is missing all of those very key components  :o :o :o. Might offer them 150 to be fair  ;D :D ;D.

(And I will add, I was just kidding... ;D :D :D ;D)

God bless,
