ACE, sounds like your campground is not very 'welcoming'!
It is pretty clear Myrtle Beach is saying they don't want the rally's.
I personally wouldn't want to afford them any money under those circumstances...or you could be like a lot of the folks going...and say...screw 'em...we'll show them.
I have been on the wrong side of Horry County...they generally make their point.  (I got luckey and knew a guy that lives there and came out quite good...99% don't!)
Now Ace...I am not trying to make this political...I am not trying to tick you off.  I am close to Myrtle Beach and have followed this from the inception!

Bike Week isn't staged at all in Myrtle Beach.. It's located at North Myrtle.
Myrtle Beach has proven for years that they don't want anyone there that is going to differ from their idea of the young, upwardly mobile tourist that is willing to spend a couple of days in town and spend at least a grand a day.
I understand where the campgrounds are coming from requiring that bikes be left in the overflow area... nothing like being awakened at 03:00 by some drunk guy with loud pipes winding up the ol' Hog to go search for another party or more beer.
I understand it, I may not like it, but I understand it.
There is more than just Myrtle Beach to stay at, and places to go really abound. North Myrtle, Merle's Inlet, Little River, Holden beach, NC. etc.... all the way up to Wilmington where the USS North Carolina is stationed as a floating museum.
The week after Bike week is the official start of "Black" Bike week (I think) and if you don't like the rules they have for the regular Rally, you'll really hate the Rules for the next one.

Definitely NOT.

The City of MB in all it's wisdom has a completely different set of rules for BBW. For instance, many of the roads have barricades set up so that traffic is  reduced to one direction only.

There have been a whole bunch of lawsuits initiated against Myrtle Beach for their attitudes and regulations. Some won, some lost, but anything that hastens equal treatment is a good thing in my book.
Myrtle Beach back in February released a press statement that 2009 Bike Weeks were canceled. Except.... The Bike week activities aren't sponsored or promoted by  Myrtle Beach, Black Bike Week is sponsored by Atlantic Beach which gains a lot of it's income from those 2 rallies.

You can tow your bike with a golf cart at Ocean Lakes. I do it all the time. I have a dolly to put the front wheels in if I don't have anyone there to tow me. They just won't allow you to ride it around the campground. Keeps down on the noise considering there are probable in excesss of 500 bikes parked up front during the rally. I leave mine up front during the day, but take it to my site at night.

Having been there many times it sounds like Sturgis is a lot more accomadating towards the biker crowd. I do have to agree that listening to bikes roll in and out all night takes getting used to and for some reason I always end up camped beside some all nighters  . We started staying at a quieter campsite the last few times plus this campsite has a schoolie that runs back and forth most of the night into town and back. Last pickup is at 2 am. Generally that last ride is interesting to say the least!!! But regardless, all us old bikers just aren't what we used to be and neither is Sturgis. Later

Well I may be taking the bike after all and the golf cart. I can use the cart to pull the bike in and out. Besides, I found out that Bike week in MB is definitely ON and not called off even though I will be there after it's gone!

Another thing that just came up is, I may have two tickets to the Coca-Cola 600 which is the weekend before our trip to MB. Now Charlotte Motor Speedway is only about 190 miles from MB. I have nothing to do from Thursday the 21st until we leave for MB on the 25th so I may be going to MB via Charlotte Motor Speedway! Now to find a place to stay near the track!

 Someday I'm gonna get the bus in the infield for a race weekend Ace. The closest track we have here is Kansas City and I checked into it last summer. Full up with a waiting list and something like $980 for the weekend. That and you have to be self contained and such which isn't a problem. Outside the track was "check with us" so I don't know what that was. We need a sticky on this forum for Nascar race camping sites and tips. Don't forget that Charlotte is 2 weekends counting the Allstar race and the 600. Have a blast!  Later

Former Harley Rider. 1974 Superglide. Rode it on and off for 24 years. Only mechanical transportation vehicle that actually appreciated. Bought it new for around $3,000 in Spring 1974. Sold it in 1998 for almost $9,000. And that was with 48,000 miles on the clock.

Sooo, still looking for ideas on transporting motorcycles under or in a bus. Saw a Sentra the other day that had a baggage bay upper hinge at about the level of my nose standing next to it...are they that big?

I have a K-1100 BMW to go with my Neoplan.  I've started on a large Suzuki then moved to Norton, Harley and finally BMW.  I like BMW the amount of ride to work on the BMW the best.  Until this last bike I've only owned R model BMWs, opposed cylinders.  I might have stayed with Harley but it came right after Norton and together they wore me down. 

I'm working with a local company to see if I can hang the BMW off a bumper.  The Neoplan has a small wheelbase so it is not likely to become a reality.

Loosnut,  I had an R100RT and a K100RS.  Great bikes.  I traded the RT in on the RS, the stop and go traffic around DC in the summer was murder on the air cooled model.  I finally had to get rid of the RS when my knee went wonky.  After about an hour of riding the pain got unbearable. 

I figured out I would need a cruiser to accommodate my riding style.  And even though I liked the BMW cruisers the riding/foot position just didn't get it.  Fortunately for me about that time they came out with the Honda VTX. 

I love the Beast

I will say I put many many more miles on the BMW's than I do the Honda, but that could be I am just getting old.  LOL

Frank, I loved R's.  Went cross country on them more than once.  Before CA I would never have had one in a city.  Out here bikes drive between the lanes, cutting traffic, so bikes don't overheat as much as one would think.  When I drive a car I don't like the concept, on a bike I do like it and in Dieter, the Neoplan, I don't care.

Too bad about the knee.  I love curves on a sportbike.  Actually I love curves .

No photos, I've never been to Bike week or Sturgis .  I worried my Harley wouldn't complete the journey.
