Bendix AD-2 Air Dryer

I've got air leaking around the bottom seal area of my air dryer. Also for some reason my pop off valve has quit working forcing the relief valve to kick in. I need to use the bus this Thursday thru Sunday. Does anyone recommend a replacement air dryer for the AD-2? This is on a 1982 Eagle Model 10 with 6v92 auto. I don't have time for the rebuilding of the AD-2. Thanks, John

It will take you longer to replace with another drier than it will take to do the preventive maintenance on the AD-2.

You risk the disaster of snapping the lines in and out while trying to remove them.

Buy the maintenance kit with everything in it, desicant cartridge, purge valve, etc.

Bendix site for the procedure.

Good as new after that.

I did mine in about an hour and thirty minutes

The supplies were readily available -- went to my supplier on monday and had them on wednesday

Finished up by noon on wednesday and took the bus on a 1500 mile run starting that afernoon

Thanks guys. My only problem is all my local supply sources don't carry the kits. Anyone know where I can get one overnighted?

If ya gotta go, just bypass the AD-2 and roll. Fix it later.

Dave that's an interesting thought but don't we need the popoff valve or relief valve doing the job of keeping it from over pressurizing?

That AD-2 is spitting and farting because you didn't do the maintenance.

If you bypass it, things might return to "normal", the line from the governor should be terminated as well if you do.

Again, trouble is snapping the lines if they don't come apart properly, and bridging the gap with something that doesn't render it all useless for the future.

Where do the trucks in your neighbourhood buy their supplies?

There has to be someplace that can get it in in tomorrow's delivery.
