I had a question ask to me yesterday and I was wondering myself, will a DT-466 fit in a 4106.  I told him I had no Idea but

would post that question. So here it is to all of you.

   Thanks,

4106 uses a left hand drive engine. I have never seen a left hand drive DT-466. We had DT 466 engines in our ambulances, I don't think they would have enough power for our buses.  Jack

I think it was TomC that said that Cummins L10's and M11's would work but you needed an extra stage to reverse the rotation into the trans....I think!!!

There was a low profile guy on here that transformed his 4106 to a "T" and installed a M11(?).  Yes it flew and got 12 MPG or something great.  He posted pics and it was a very nice job.  The 06 had to be stretched out the rear and there was some more overhang but it was a great job.  He was kind of matter-of- fact about it and simply said "well, everybody was wrong about my not being able to reinforce the bulkheads".  4106's are already very fast with just a 8V71N in there and they are fairly economical.  Labors of love, I guess.

If it is a left hand engine then does that open the possibility of a 8v71 marine engine. I've seen some for sale from time to time. I'm taking it that the norm is right hand rotation. Just curious. Later

The engines that have been used with the V730R (reverser gear to run right hand drive engines), are the Detroit Series 50, Cummins L10, ISM, ISC, ISL.  Considering that the 466 is very close in size to the ISC/ISL, I don't see why it couldn't be run with the proper bell housing setup.  Good Luck, TomC
