I have to get the rig for towing set up but this will be my toad. I hope the CIA will leave me alone.

Famous spy car used by 86 and also the first Bond car in Dr. No.

It's the good one "Alpine", Tigers are nose heavy and over rated. Just my opinion, I like the HP of the Tiger but love the handling of the Alpine. I have installed a GM 180hp Q4 engine in one of my Alpines that will give me more power than a Tiger with a lot less weight. By todays standards they are not much of a sports car but I think they are best looking car and very reliable believe it or not. I drive one daily.

I had a 65 tiger with a  real 289/271hp hi-po motor that was reworked  with ported heads/headers,offo intake. The weight ratio was not nose heavy 51% front 49% rear. That car would friggin fly. Wish I still had it . I used to live In Va. near CIA in McLean Had The Tag  MAX 86 (Maxwell Smart  agent 86) for those who are too young to know.I knew about every Fairfax cop there was.Darn where did those days Go!!!!! I have to dig up a picture to post.

It's great with the 289 until you had to change that blasted left rear spark plug through the rubber plug in the fire wall-nothing's easy.  Good Luck, TomC

Rick,

I hope you plan to haul that beauty in a closed trailer. That paint is too nice to expose to the rear debris field of a bus.

I just had my TR4 painted almost the same color and I plan to use a low, short trailer with a ramp and a small side door so I can crawl out over the door with the top down. That's if we ever have a toad.

The nice thing about a 35 footer is that you really don't need a toad unless you stay in one spot for a while, which we never do unless we're sponging off friends.

Gus that's the wifes Alpine, we will be towing mine the beater but reliable. I have four of the darn things, I need my head examined. I have a huge selection of parts also. When something breaks I just go the parts room and get another. I have spare engines ready to drop in but never need one. It's what I spent my money on before I had a bus. I thought I'd either put it in a trailer or put a rock shield on the front.

Ed nice Tiger! I only bad mouth them because I never could afford one. They are crazy expensive now.

Gus, what year is your TR4?  i have a 62 that is slightly modified......it has a 289 with a C4 automatic out of a 67 mustang.  I think it has a mild cam in it.  We call it the little red rocket. :)  Sorta got it up for sale right now but since i just got a call to come back to work it is going back in storage till we come back to Yuma in the fall.
