I got the bus put back together and drove it to the airport and then during my morning coffee break drove it to the safeway to have coffee with my school bus friends. After shut down I noticed air whistling from under the dash. I determined it to be coming from the air gauge and when I returned to the airport the leak was gone. A gremlin??? When I returned home still no leak. However I was rewarded with a whistle coming from the rear axle area. Next day I called my favorite repair shop because they have a pit. I was informed by Wade the manager they had moved across I-10 to a new location with no pit.  :'( He said they could jack it. I pulled in to their drive and pointed toward the leak. Wade to my disbelief grabbed a couple of wrenches and crawled under the bus (no blocks or jacks) disconnected an air hose tightened a fitting and reconnected the hose. I told him I thought he was nuts.

Having a tight air system again I drove home via a street with a bus in a front yard. I have been there before but no one was home. After a blast from the air horn the owner came out and we had a nice chat and I proudly showed off my bus. Then he showed me his buses. He has three, a Brill, a short Clipper and a VL100 that was too die for in a barn behind the house. He has left most of the original interior intact while still having a galley and shower in the rear. What a beautiful bus. He is also a airplane nut so we had much to talk about.

That hiss in front was surely one of the air wiper switches, they do that. Usually you can stop it by moving the wiper control to the full off position or sometimes just using the Park feature will stop the leak. There are so many connections between the control valves and wiper motors that it is a breeding ground for leaks. I've been tempted to insert a shut off valve to the whole wiper system.

Your new found buddy sounds like my kind of a guy. The VL100 is almost as pretty as a Scenicruiser and rarer.

Gus,

I found that was one of the leaks I was chasing, I like the air wipers to, so I am adding a shut off valve.

I wanted to see what a VL100 looked like, so I checked on the web and found this.

Lee,

The only reason I knew is that I have a book on buses, actually three books, and I remembered seeing one in one of those books. Not only is it gorgeous but it is pretty rare.

Gus,
I wanted to make sure of which bus it was. One of the sportcar racers in ICSCC (International Conference of Sports Car Clubs) has one that he uses as a tow rig and HM.

Must be a few variants of the VL100's for the rear corners of his bus have these beautiful rap around ribs that were polished aluminum against a glossy maroon colored skins. Yummy. This is not his bus but this the type of arrangement in the rear. I believe this bus is for sale on the flxible site. It needs work to be drivable last I looked.
