We are currently on HWY 40 in New Mexico on our cross country trip and we're choosing our route from Flagstaff, AZ to Las Vegas, NV and we've received conflicting info on whether we can cross the Hoover dam on our bus or not.  Does anyone have any feedback?  We also have 20 house batteries and we're wondering if it's going to cause inspection problems.  Quick response is appreciated - i have to decide in 300 miles.

On our last crossing - without coach - all vehicles except cars were stopped and searched on either side.  I do not know if any were denied crossing.

Last August I crossed in a truck with a 100 gallon tank in the back pulling a car hauler no real delays and I was waved to the side. There was a bus motorhome ahead of me and they didn't delay him any longer than anyone else.  But the weekend before someone ran the stop and they were shy and on a higher alert FWIW

I took my Crown conversion across last year, no biggie.  I have a 100 gal propane tank onboard as well as the diesel fuel tank.  The agent did a once-around and asked to see in all the bay doors, and took a quick glance inside, then said- "clear to go" and politely thanked me for letting him do his job.  Didn't look at registration.  Just wanted to inspect for...&^$#s n stuff

We crossed it this spring with no problems.. they checked the bays and interior and we went over. If you are planning to tour the dam the parking lot on the east side is great for parking your bus.
