Toad Braking

 Hi guys, I have a friend who is wanting to tow a vehicle behind his pick up. What are you guys using as a braking system?  Are there better ones? He would like to have one that is easily disconnected.   All input would be greatly appreciated.

Nick, I know that you had some problems with the Brake Buddy dash monitor.  The Even Tow looks like a similar system.  Do you find that it works much better?

We recently bought and installed a Tow-V-Aire system, it works just
fine.  It runs on coach power and has an indicator to tell you it is
working.  It is a simple system and very easy to install, even on an
antique like some of us own. BTW, it was $745.00 including shipping.

The Evenbrake works perfectly compaired to that POS Brake Buddy..
No radio communication problems at all... and I think the Evenbrake is more up to the job for my H2 then BB.

thanks for the info, it looks like Brake Buddy is ont to stay away from,  Where in the North West would one purchase  the Evenbrake system.?  Any one using a system called Add-a Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System?

Does anyone know about a brake system that uses a cable connected to the toad brake.  It works like a surge brake in that the hitch has a sliding section that is spring loaded.  When the toad tries to push against the RV the cable is drawn up and applies the toad brakes hard enuf to eliminate the "push on the RV.  No wires, no power, no fuses, no air lines.  Just a cable that runs from the brake ped out to the front bumper.  Toad baake lights are powered by the toad but the Mother Ship can have conventual lighting hook up with diodes to isolate.  Would really like to hear from anyone with experience.

I've experienced the surge brake system on trailers & I don't like it one bit, it leaves the trailer in charge of braking & you're reduced to being a spectator.

I have a electric controller with an inertial sensor that I really like. I also have the ability to apply the trailer brakes independently if desired.

My preference behind the bus is to use an air cylinder to apply pressure on the brake pedal. the air cylinder gets air from the bus brake system like the semi trailers . . . .

About as simple as it gets . . .

If you use it, let us know what you think.  I do like the idea of the wireless box though.  Further, I do not have a receiver hitch--just a permanent tongue with a ball.  Modifying it would not be a big job, but just another thing to do.  Good luck.
