Lee, I did see that video... I like the way he did it...and possibly might be the way i will do mine... I have not seen Gumpy's yet... but would like to have a similar hatch, and then either a folding ladder or a hidden sprial stair case.... thanks for the link... I really like the inside front view from up on the upper deck of the Odyssey... but I just cant get over the looks of the front from the outside.....

I kind of like the front of the Odyssey but then I have a Cityliner.

How about a cross between an elevator and sprial stair; a hydraulic sprial that comes up from the floor? The top step attached to the ram and rest of the steps floating on the ram with a rods linking one step to the next.

Hmmm, i like that idea.. then when the ram is down, you could still use the space... but, that would have to be one long ram.... I wonder if they make telescoping rams... sorta like a bottle jack...

They do. A lot of the dump trucks are 4 or 5 stage rams; 20 feet into 4 or 5 feet.

Get some of those and and put them underneaththe bus, then the whole bus is a slide up ,  you can watch in AC, use potty, and get another brew.


IIRC on the old board, someone was putting down insulation the roof of the bus then skinned it so it could be walked on and spread the load, also didn't take out headroom and added insulation (4"?),  seems they curved the edge down to gutter so it did not look funky,  also made mounts for rails that had ropes that he could put up.  show us what you do

Thanks for the link.. The older posis have a different link to his site...so thats why it was not working. All I ahve to say is ...WOW... I like his ladder idea...but Holy cow.....  the wiring that he did is very nice indead... it is a shame that most of it will be hidden!!...He shouls encase that is plexi...

Anybody have plans for a roof deck or observation platform that you could post or pm? I love the idea of putting one up on my roof. Specially for beach combing !!! Don't let my wife read this or she'll want her own at the other end of the bus looking towards the lifesaver's shack!

When we are at the racetrack and are using my buddy's Warnderlodge, we get up on the roof, sit in some camping chairs, and watch part of the race from there.

I'm going to join the chorus and suggest that you build a platform.  I can imagine the excitement of driving a deck chair leg through the roof, followed by the chair's former occupant doing a 13-foot freefall.
