Better check the ECU on the b500 ,the ECU on a B500 has a setting that has to be in the enable mode for the Jakes to work you may have the saddle on the wrong horse here, there is a setting for the Jakes, drive it to Allsion and see if it is on or off, The B500 has a mind of it's own it doesn't care what the engine says

60 psi is ok that falls in the middle of the 50 to 70 psi range at 1800 rpm most of the time the new pumps do 70+ psi

Just to follow up on this issue, I installed the rebuilt mechanical fuel pump I got from Luke, when I took the old one apart I found grooves worn into the shaft, the seals were also pretty shot.

I believe it was sucking air in through the seals, I had already removed the electric pump that might have been restricting the flow, replaced any of the fuel lines that looked questionable and replaced the filters. I also added a permanent fuel pressure gauge at the secondary filter.

This brought the pressure up to 30 at idle and 60+ at higher RPM.

I was not able to test until this weekend.

The power difference is substantial, a little quicker off the line, I no longer lose speed and can even accelerate on the smaller inclines that previously caused me to lose speed, it is also quicker to accelerate when merging onto the interstate and passing slower vehicles.

Well, so much for that. The mechanic was out for 6 hours installing relays and fuses, etc. However, he could not get it to work so that the fuel would cut off when the Jakes are engaged. He may have been able to do something with it, but he would have to shift gears after working on it all day. He's thinking I could have a problem in the ECU. I plan to get a spare ECU. He said to have it table tested for the Jake operation, and that just because they may be "turned on" in the ECU doesn't mean that there isn't a problem after that. So, for now it's back to the drawing board.

Quote from: Jim Blackwood on April 18, 2026, 04:42:12 AMI think the windows will probably be the last thing I do. I'd love to replace about 6 of them with sliders but at around $500 each that's about 3 grand and that requires some budgeting. Might do them one at a time though. Just to check the fit you understand...

The lack of sliding windows is one thing I don't like in the Prevost factory conversions; they may have 2 on each side at the bottom of the window with about 6 inches of opening, I would prefer a full sliding 1/2 window in the conversion like my Country Coach Magna had., it makes you depend too much on the AC units in the summertime you don't get much air movement with the tiny factory sliders in the Prevost and some conversions,2 good vent fans are a must in conversions if you like fresh air

Does anyone have pictures of the rubber cones on the squirrel fans

Thanks

Dave,

I never seen the cones. Do I have to remove the covers on the squirrel to do the seals?
Or just disconnect the shafts?
