Title: Baffled. Looking for connectors
Post by: Zephod on July 06, 2017, 05:03:36 PM
I've been scratching my head poking different search terms in for the last hour.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170707/13d82562730282bd8936f0a1d34cb071.jpeg)
I'm trying to get a few of these without having to order from Britain. I know they're cheap but I just can't seem to find them anywhere.

What is it?

Exactly like that or will a different style work?  They're typically referred to as terminal blocks and come in many styles.

Here is one that can serve a similar purpose:

Not like anything I've seen.  Are those flat prongs 1/4" connector blades?

I have several that are like that but they have fuse slots between the blade connectors. You can probably get them on Ebay for pennies apiece if you got time to wait for them. I'll do a quick search and post back here if you haven't found them somewhere else first.
Will

Okay, here is what I have-  http://www.ebay.com/itm/85666-Dorman-Fuse-Panel-Accepts-4-Glass-Style-Fuses-add-on-fuse-block-marine-L19-/201095428124?epid=193209751&hash=item2ed238b81c:g:XiQAAOxyBPZTfsiZ&vxp=mtr (http://www.ebay.com/itm/85666-Dorman-Fuse-Panel-Accepts-4-Glass-Style-Fuses-add-on-fuse-block-marine-L19-/201095428124?epid=193209751&hash=item2ed238b81c:g:XiQAAOxyBPZTfsiZ&vxp=mtr)

Dorman fuse block. Mine hold 6 fuses though. I used them in the dash behind the backup monitor for all the 12V accessories I have up front. (GPS, overhead entry lights, stereo, etc)
Try copy and paste the above link if it won't click you there.

Here's another similar to your pic but on steroids-  http://www.ebay.com/itm/PUSH-ON-BLADES-TERMINAL-BLOCK-16-POLE-64-PLUG-BLADES-NEW-UNUSED-/162416036440?hash=item25d0c00a58:g:140AAOSwXYtYuDvH (http://www.ebay.com/itm/PUSH-ON-BLADES-TERMINAL-BLOCK-16-POLE-64-PLUG-BLADES-NEW-UNUSED-/162416036440?hash=item25d0c00a58:g:140AAOSwXYtYuDvH)
Both of the above are US- not China if that makes a difference to you.

Cheap and China would be fine. It's not something I'm in a tearing rush for.

No. I'm building battery packs with built in battery level indicators, built in fuses, built in USB power converters and switches to switch USB off and battery level indicators off. Two batteries per pack. So far I just have one very basic battery pack built. I want to build my more technical packs though.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170707/39ca67333b9c00945665210afd4476c6.jpg)

Yup. The uk is just uncompetitively expensive and it's going to get worse after Brexit.

Try AliExpress. I just did a quick search on "terminal block" and got 15,000+ hits.

While it is clearly usable as a terminal block, it also appears that it could be used for routing, like the copper busses in MCI panels...but independently. I have a few that are copper... the power feed line goes in and is secured by the hex screw, whatever is being "fed" routes on the spades (I prefer screw terminals as well, with a fuse or breaker)...and the other hex goes to chassis.

Try mouser.com, search for terminal block.

FWIW & HTH. . .

Go to your local Grainger,C E D ,Rexel or County Electric supply and ask them if they carry Bucanan terminal blocks or an equiv in Bussman or Allen Bradly.Try to find a sales person that has some miles on him. These young kids they are hiring these days just don't get it.

Granger sounds possible. I think there might be a branch off Chris Drive in west Columbia. I'll have to see when I'm passing there next.

I know what you mean about box shifters that don't have a clue. The vast majority of retail imho is the equivalent of workfare.

I tend to regard all minimum wage jobs like retail as workfare.

At least they are working. Look at Restaurants, most make less than minimum wage or at minimum wage but with tips they make a whole lot more.

Keep in mind that professional drivers are still considered unskilled labor by many.

Try Cole-Hersey for electrical parts. I used to find it at Fleet Pride.  Dennis

That's true. I'm not making a whole lot. I took the job in order to learn to drive my motorhome. Also it paid better than my last few jobs. Driving is not a career choice - it's an in between jobs job.

I came to the conclusion many years ago that there were no jobs worth having in sc. hence the bus project was started. So I can get the Hell out of this s---hole.

Just remember, if the grass truely is greener on the other side of the fence, then it is usually because the yard is full of poop.

You are a creative guy.  If you can't find what you want for a reasonable price, then there have already been plenty of workable suggestions.

I know kids coming out of engineering and design school who do not know what BumWad is, or how to use a book to find a conversion factor. They better hope there is an endless supply of power...forever.
