I custom built the couch it is 7ft 6 inches long had to make it long enough to hold all 6 of our kids. We only have 465 dollars in to it and a lot of love. And mama loves it so everybody loves it.
Very nice!
nice job! I have seen allot of 2500$ ones that were not that appealing or solid.
Nice job. We just had our done too.
Dave
Looks Great!!!!!
Looks real good!
Does it make out in to a bed to sleep all them kids? Or do you stick them in them there drawers lol! ;D
Gary
Told the wife if there not good i will put them in luggage bay lol. Thanks for all the compliments.
That's a good thought!! Them luggage bay would make a good bedroom for kids ::)
Probably outta vent them though lol!!

don,t laugh to hard about the bay beds, I was at a campground last summer and a guy had his Bays airconditioned and his teenage kids were sleeping on air mattress in the bays. had inside release handles and all. It seemed to work great for them and the kids liked the privacy.

I have seen pics of a big money coach that had a "hideaway for the kids" trap door thru a couch cushion , all decked out for play and video. Kids could not open from inside but be unlocked and opened by adult from outside
Hey thanks for the ideas maybe someday ill get done with everything that has to be done and think about that play area the kids love there video games and i don't so they could play them without bugging the $#!% out of me . lol
Mike,
Really nice!
Any words of wisdom or caution for someone considering doing the same thing?

Very, very nice!! Im curious what you are doing with the corner space there. Do you have a lazy susan for storage of extra stuff to make it easy to get to? or do you maybe have a water tank or something else hiding there? or maybe another door/drawer on the other side? What kind of fabric and foam/stuffing did you use? Very nice job!

Yeah, these are all questions that I'd like to know answers to as well. How much space do you think you lost by going to the "bend around" corner? It's a beautiful job and the fact you got it done for so little is wonderful. Good work, Bruce H
Also interested in build details (and larger photos). Picasa is easy for this.
Very cool looking BTW!
Where do I place my order???
awesome work

The way my wife and kids accuse me of snoring like an 8V71 on a downgrade with the Jake Brake on, I just hope they don't read this and send ME to the cargo bay!
;D

The cushions are made from 4 1/2 inch high density foam, the arms are stuffed with 2 layers of quilt batting and the fabric comes from a RV surplus store in Indiana. I used faux leather upholstery from JoAnn's to cover the base of the couch. I have a hidden door under the cushion to reach the far back corner for storage. As far as space is concerned, we actually will have more space than the original configuration. We are removing 3 couches and replacing them with the one shown here, as well as making the passenger chair swivel to be part of the living area. We are removing this huge monster of a TV cabnet to make more room as well, and will replace it with a flat screen either above the drivers area or behind the fire place that will be directly across from the couch. I should be busy for a while.
BTW thank you all for your compliments!!!

Cliff; I drew it up on paper first so I had all the right dementions, and let the wife pick out the fabric!! One word of advise.... DONT put the electric screw driver bit threw your finger........ That will get your attention in a hurry! :-\
The frame is made of 2x2's and 1/2 inch plywood and 3 lbs of screws, its not overly heavy, but will hold up against 6 teenagers and preteens.
I will do final touchups after we install and will post more pics. By the way it matches the new carpet I have to put down as well.
Cool. Looking forward to seeing more of the details!
very nice! i have a 8' couch i got that i am trying to shorten and modify but might have bitten off more than i can chew. this thing is built pretty good and i have some issues with the springs. Nice job, like the storage too
