If you need more push power here's the diesel for you, you might lose a little space in back and may need some heavy duty air bags but.....

Very Cool!  Wonder what kind of Bus Conversion music it would make with practically no mufflers?  Duh....did they make a Jake for the '149?  If nothing else, imagine the scrap value of all that iron and high grade steel...or trading material for other cool Detroits?

Would "only" 8000 hours make it a run out engine, or would it have lots of hours of miles left in it?  What is the value as a running core engine?  Dunno.  How in the world would it fit into our Bus Conversions?  Dunno that either.  Anyway, cool post.  :) :) :)

One thing that amazes me to think of about the DD 149 series - each cylinder has more displacement than the entire engine of most smaller cars today.

It probably has enough torque that you wouldn't need a transmission.  Just dump the clutch and go.
