thers a guy with a 871 turbo around a 1980 engine does anybody know what the hp and torque would have been if its still original injectors

350, 375 or 400 hp, depending on the injectors.  Don't have the torque figures handy, but they'll be a whole bunch more than the 770 ftlbs of a stock 8V71 coach engine - and probably way more than a 600 series Allison can handle.

you need to give us the model of the engine there are 3 different 8V71 turbo engines but here's some info for you on 3 I know about

8v71T 308 with n65 injectors 865 lbs of torque
         335   "    n70     "       920      "
         350   "    n75     "       965      "

8v71TA   370 with 7c75 injectors  1064 lbs of torque
8v71TT   305   "    n75     "          1038      "

Hope this helps these are factory setting from the 70's and  80"s plus you had the fuel saver version

That TT motor would be a sweet set up for a coach just because it could be such low a profile, and it would spool early and hard.  I've always thought two little turbo's are way better than one big one.  Side note.  I've seen a factory rated 8v71TA at 475hp in a fire truck.  I have no idea what the combination of injectors or turbo was but that is getting pretty serious for that engine from the factory!

The last 8V-71TA with 7G80 injectors had 400hp and 1200lb/ft torque.  With a little math, the 375hp and 1125lb/ft torque is what my engine puts out with 9G75 injectors.  Good Luck, TomC

Yeah...Detroit Diesel did crazy things with their 2-stroke masterpieces.  Our old American LaFrance fire engines and ladder trucks had 8V71N mills factory rated at 350 hp at 2500 rpm.  Used N90 injectors.

When employeeeed with hardly any mufflers (common way back then) they sounded soosss cool.  Maybe someone will tell us about the military/marine ratings for the 8V71TI(A)?  Oh boy!  :) :) :)

The following link is from Mallie Lennon's site. The bottom Milt. spec. sheet has a lot of very specific details, I have not seen any place else. http://mallie.home.cwis.net/page17.html

I'll try and post the marine spec for a 8v71 that will blow your mind the HP rating on the engine
