steering cylinder leak

  Looking for a steering steering shaft  fo a mci # 8 ,  is not avaiable from mci  , cannot find a place, shaft is worn , won't hold a seal,looking for a place to find a new one.any one had any expierence with this, or is there anywhere to get a new one made?

Art, buy you a wear sleeve I don't know the dia. of the shaft but  www.daemar.com  has 1  inch and larger but there are other places too   have a great day

artglass...your subject titled "steering cylinder leak"....are talking about slave cylinder's seal or control valve leaking?

Art, here is a site to show you how a wear sleeve works I never relplace a shaft that has groves and won't hold a seal www.bsahome.org  sorry gave you the wrong site I will find the right one for you

Are you referring this part #3 rod is scored?

If so, which is common to leaks when been through many dusty road on old cars with slave cylinder. If you cannot find a replacement or don't want machine shop to spray weld shaft with chrome surface, you can change over to integral steering box. It much tighter steering and all later buses & trucks are equips integral type. No slave cylinder.

Here are the parts numbers. Ask MCI parts if this is same as MCI 8.
