The grill and headlights (if moved down to the height of the grill), remind me of the Chrysler cop car in The Blues Brothers.  I also note the blue lights above the windshield and some weird red and white side marker lights.  Do you have a clear picture of the logo on the side near the front?

It look to a home made car body.....no compound curve. Sheet metal or sheet fiberglass body designed and flat glass.

All automotive manufacture use compound curve to add the strength to the body, glass and better aerodynamics.

Be interesting to find the history of the van.
If you have the license number, you can trace the car to it owner.

And how in the world would you change the back tires?

I would say definitely a "prop" car.

When I found the Caddy, I figured that it was some guys project RV that he figured he could put together in response to finding older/smaller RV's from maybe the 50-60's.  But is still looks like alot of time was spent putting it all together.

The logo towards the front is a USMC insignia

Airbag

Looks like the shuttle craft from the oringinal Star Trek series :D

tekebird

well there's the plate.  Someone with some LE contact that is willing to run the plate ought to get the real story.

Looks well done, but doubt it is a professional thing...way to angular even for an angular concept.

zimtok

It looks like it may have many parts from an old Cadilac Hearse.
The "rear bumper" looks like it is a front bumper.

But as said the flat panels and glass suggest it was home made.

I'd sure like to see the inside....

If I were looking for a Cadillac Motorhome, it would be more like this:
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/rvs/763074249.html

The ad says it's a flathead V-8.  Is that right?  I never knew that GM built a flat head.

Cadillac & Oakland (used in pontiacs after the merger/ acquisition) both had flathead v8's. Their intake & exhaust were in the center valley whereas ford had the exhaust on the outside.

Mary and I saw something very close to this at the Great Smokey Mountains National Park I believe in Tennessee way back in the summer of 1981.  I spoke to the gentleman owner/builder and he told me that he was an engineer who worked for then retired from Cadillac.

He and we were camped at one of the park service campgrounds.  If I recall correctly, he informed us that a lot of the interior stuff was powered/controlled by electric motors taken from power windows and stuff like that.  The interior was as well done as the exterior.

However, again if memory serves, the color of the vehicle we saw was a combination of various shades of green.  The impression I had at that time and the one I remember today is that this gentleman was an absolute genius who had created a very unusual piece of art.  :) :) :)
