I am gathering parts for the dash air in my Eagle. I am going to use Red Dot parts. The evaporator unit is an R-9520 and the condensor I plan to use is a 77R0700. I have not decided on a compressor at this time. My question  does the condensor care if the tubes are vertical or horisontal ? I plan to use them in the vertical position.

Hi Wayne,

No, the condencer does not care weather it's up, down, sideways or whatever.

Just position for maximum air flow through it...

Good Luck with your project

I ended up bolting my condenser horizontally (parallel with the road) just over the front axle, and then stuck a big old 12 volt fan out of a crown victoria  on top of it, sucking up.
Hooked the fan to the AC's on-off switch... works perfectly.  Originally I'd put it in front of the engine radiator as most people do and it contributed to overheating on those hot day/long grade runs.   Now it's closer to the AC unit (shorter hoses etc) and in a place that was essentially wasted for much of anything else.

Wayne,

I got some really good advice from the board a couple days ago on this topic of AC.  I talked with Gretchen at "POLARBEARINC.COM"....800 365 3516.

Info I picked up is that with 134 you want the parallel tube condensor and you need the absolute biggest that you can fit.  Sanden 508-9285 is a good unit and will replace the old York in it original mount if you have that.  The most efficient and smallest is the FS10 SCROLL compressor off of Ford products.  Check price for a decision point.  Your other concern is to be able to drive the compressor with a belt and she can figure that out in a flash.  I enjoyed talking with this lady, but then I like Krauts.

Good luck,

John
