Hello
On the road after a soggy start.  Left home and ran into a thunderstorm  about 30 mile up the road .   All of a sudden  the windshield wiper on my side  disappeared. .  leaving a little stub sticking up waving at me as it went back and forth.  reminded me of something   hmm.  So stopped to go back for the rest and lo and behold it was hanging down below the windshield.  Gathered up the parts and decided to go back and replace it . I have some spares and i did not think any would be available on the road (MCI 7 1972 ).  SO an hour later repaired and off again.
Made it to Texas. THe bus is running fine on her maiden cruise with the L10/B400R tranny repower project completed.
I am learning to drive the bus and handle the new gears.  The transmission shifts very smoothly .  The retarder works well and brings the bus down well.  I try to keep the RPMS between 1500 and 1600 which is about 65 in 6th gear and 57 in 5th gear.
So far I am very pleased with the results.  Fuel figures are between 7 and 8 at the moment which is very encouraging.
Hope to visit other bus nuts here if time permits  and have visited museums in Beaumont today.

We'll be home in Abilene on Tuesday. Are you going to be in the area next week?

Hello:  Waiting for the power to be returned to San Beniito and Harlingen area; so we can  run down to see the grandkids.  Not sure yet when we will head north. Plans are flexible and loose at the moment.
Don't believe we will get that far west this trip but will let you know as plans develop. Probably will get to Mansfield area early next month.
    Thanks for the offer.
Feels strange not to be working to meet a deadline but then  minor things are happening.  The coach water pump is leaking so installed the spare. Last night the fantastic vent quit.  Need to look at that today.  THere  are things to occupy any spare moments.

Hello:     Life is strange sometimes.  We had a reservation for a park in Anahauc but changed it to go to a place down farther on 160  near Dickinson.  So we went right on by this morning.  Sorry we missed you but our paths will cross again someday.  I put the computer away this am and left for this destination.  WE are headed south tomorrow to San Benito as the power is back on .  After a visit with the grandkids and some work for the daughter we will head for Mansfield via San Antonio.
We will then head East on 20 so you will be on the list for next trip now that we know where you located.   i could never get that map thing to work right so I wish an address list was possible that we could query by state or area.
Anyway this PM I visited the USS Texas battleship  CV 35 the only known piston engine battleship in existence.  The old girl is a bit rough and the elements are eating her away almost faster than the restoration effort .  Must have been something to serve on that ship. She has a proud heritage.  AT the moment the engine room is closed for restoration  and most areas are restricted. They conduct hard hat tours during the winter months and when the lower area engine room area is done I would like to visit again.
Imagine a battleship.. with a 4 cylinder engine.  Enough ramblin
     Hope your journeys  are cool
