Gordon Pfalzgraf's Hatchback Scenicrusier

I was over at the Scenicrusier21 site,  http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/Scenicruiser21/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=group&slk=1

and was looking at this Scenicrusier hatchback. Very, Very interesting. Does anyone have any other pictures of this unique bus? I would like to see how the hatchback was built, or reinforced. How did the ramps come out, manpower? I don't know if it was in a dream or what, but wasn't this bus for sale a bunch of years ago and it had some other pictures of it then? Did anyone save a copy of them?

Also, in a sorta similar line of thought, has anyone ever thought of building a "Scenicrusier Trailer?" I mean a trailer with the Scenicrusier lines & porportions, just reduced to a 26 - 30 foot length. I know this would make a really long bus/trailer going down the road, on the order of 70-75 feet, but UPS & FedEx pull tripples all the time on I-70 and they gotta be 80-90 feet.

Nick, That bus is a Sultana from Mexico.

Any of you guys have a photo of the Eagle at MAKs rally in 2000 I believe it was at Laughlin but he drove a small Suzuki Samurai into the back upper level  there is a photo in one of Mikes magazine on the back page it was unique

Dallas that photo is a hybrid of a Scenicruiser and an Aerocoach and a bunch of custom fabrication

the bus the original posted noted is a scenicruiser which the back clip above the engine opens upward.

last I saw it was a couple decades ago...at the Carlisle car show and it was hauling a corvette and the owner was selling car covers

Mike- those states that allow triples also have special length laws.  Most states keep the maximum length of RV's to 65 ft overall.  So with a 40ft bus you could pull a 20 ft trailer-which would be enough to house the corvette. Good Luck, TomC

That 'hatchback' idea is very common here - traditionally race car teams would add a ramp and a door to the back of an old coach and use it to transport their vehicles & people, just like the Bedford in the 'Italian Job' movie for example. It was a very common thing to do in the 70's and 80's, but you don't see them nearly as much nowadays for some reason - it so happens though I was at a steam rally just a couple of weeks ago and a guy there was carrying his vintage steam vehicle inside a coach

Usually you would start by choosing a bus with a mid-mounted engine for obvious reasons - having to get the car to the height required to go inside a Scenicruiser certainly makes things a lot more tricky
