Wireless broadband

  Since a lot of you have similar set ups.......

Got Ver. wireless broad band for the house and bus. only getting 2 bars and a lot
of dropped connections.

   1. Regular cells are 4 bars on 850 MHz    less on 1900 MHz
   2. would a repeater/booster help?

Skip, I fought the same situation all winter in Florida. I finally bought the Wilson Trucker antenna on the E place and mounted it to the bus where the old CB antenna was, just high enough to clear the roof and my problems were solved. I did have to hunt a bit for the antenna adapter cable for the phone but Wilson has a page of them which makes it easy. I then got a new (used) aircard for my laptop on the E place, bought another adapter for it and was soon in tall cotton.

Back here in the mountains of NC everything works fine. Total investment less than $100 and all problems solved.

I used a Sprint cellphone for my internet, I found that a hardwired external antenna worked well for me. Mounted on top of a roof air. If you want to boondock, you will need a powered booster. If you really want to boondock away from civilization, then you need to move up to satellite !!!

I use a verizon aircard for work..kept disconnecting..Added an external antenna..Problem solved !

Our buses are horrible at soaking up signals.

Cell or radio reception inside the coach is weak.

Get the antennae outside, and all will be better.

I am a fan of the Wilson equipment. For economy, try just the external antennae, then add the booster if you need it.

Check Wilson's site FIRST before buying your next cell phone. Some don't have adapters.... don't ask...
