I am working on a MCI 102EL3 that the guy bought on ebay and it is missing a ton of parts. I need the 24V relay modules, 12V relay modules, transmission ECM, suspension ECM, lavatory door latch, rear bumper, and both exterior mirrors, among lots of other expensive parts.

Any help with parts or sources will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, thanks, Mike is sending what he has. The stuff I listed Mike doesn't have and is really bad expensive stuff I would like to find used. I wish I hadn't let myself get involved, but I'm in this up to my neck. The owner is asking me to cut my rate because this is costing way more than ever expected.

Thanks, we called them and every E bus they have burned in the back and they only have some incidental body parts off the front.

The owner thought he bought a bus that was missing a transmission, it turns out he bought a bus that was someones parts bus for a long time and everything that ever goes wrong with these busses was robbed, even some wiring was snipped for the ends. All tail lights were robbed with a cutters. It's a mess. I agreed to install the new transmission and now I am reassembling the whole bus.

another example of not "Knowing" what you are buying.

finding E4500's that are being parted out is hard.  Contact ABC bus, they buy recks for used parts...however only expect a 10-20% savings over new

does he need a maint or parts manual for it

busguy01

I have some of the parts you need. Drop me a note with needs.

Well, he thought he was buying from a reputable dealer so he didn't suspect this at all.

We bought the manuals from MCI for $600 and they are photocopies start to finish.

ABC had a few things, their E models were burnt also.

This one should have been parted out, in fact it was being parted for a while. It's Resurrection is just going to cost mountains of money. In my humble opinion, it was beyond the point of no return.

reputable or not the guy should have looked at the bus.

but, would you cvare to share where the bus came from (dealer wise)

if you don;t care to post here feel free to email it to me directly

PEDCO in Santa Fe Springs, California probably has the tranny ECM you need.  Of course, it will probably not have the program you need, and, IIRC, only an authorized Allison distributor can program them.

What year is this gem?
What type of trans ECU do you need-WTEC 2 or WTEC 3???

Hartley

Whew...

Sounds like you may need to just buy a bus and use that one for parts.

If you got suckered into making it a usable/runable bus and didn't know half
of it was missing before hand, You need to renegotiate the deal.

My rule is: If I can't hear it or see it run it goes to the end of the list.

If it moves under it's own power (even a little) it gets higher on the list.

If someone chopped wires and connectors off.. Run like Hell !!!! (unless it's FREE!)

Sorry to ramble... Seem to be lost today..

captunderdog

Yeah Dave, I know what you mean. I had no part in the buy decision. He just asked me if I would put a new transmission in it if he bought it. Now my business has gotten busy and I have this bus to totally restore.

I'm not sure what program goes in it but the trans ECM is part number 29517003. I am told I need a CIN number to tell allison what to program it with.

Thanks for all your help so far.

God Bless.

Capt, what model year is the bus?
Does it have 3 trans ECU connectors?, or only two ??.
Jake brake??, Retarder??
Series60??
I work on a fleet with a few E-models, can possibly get you a CIN from a similar bus.
New trans ECU is around $2K, then it has to be programmed - as you already know.
I don't know if MCI can provide CIN info if you give them the VIN #.

What about converting to good old fashioned leveling valves??, instead of ECAS?
Might be able to do a little damage control for your customer.
Let me know.

captunderdog

It's a 1998, Series 60 Detroit w/jakes, B500 w/o retarder. I think there are only two connectors on the trans ECu, but I will check for sure.

Ok, I'm all for the old leveling valves but will that confuse any of the other electronics? I don't know if I could talk him into it or not. He likes everything like the factory made it.

I'll see what MCI says about the CIN.

I surely do appreciate all the help, I'll keep posting.

God Bless.
