Waterproof awning

My 6 year old awning got to be a real mess while parked under trees in FL.  I have manged to get it clean but in the process have destroyed the water repellancy.
I have checked and the appropriate product for my awning (woven Polyester) is in the $50 range. New awning is about $200. At $50 to waterproof the old one it makes more sense to buy a new one!
I did a web search and a DIY waterproofing is  Turpentine and Soy oil.  Has anybody tried this or have a better idea?  I canot use anything on it that contains silicon.

Thanks Nick.  It would take at least 2 of the larger bottles at $17 each Then that might not be quite enough, I've got a 21 foot awning,  plus shipping!! They say these sprays need to be renewed in one year. So again $200 for a new awning makes more sense.   Jim

About 5 to 7 years of Florida weather is about all that most canvas
awnings can handle. When the waterproofing gives out the mold and slime
creatures move into the fabric and it will eventually become brittle or start
tearing apart. They leak and weep water.

The same thing happens to Blue Tarps covering roofs...( People don't know that! )..

If you get a new awning, Get one that has the vinyl protective barrier that keeps the elements off the rolled up awning. That will help it last longer.
