I need some info on this gen  it is  Model 5.5 BGMFA26105G it Does not put out 220 but has two 120 circuits a 30 amp and a 20 amp. I'm changing from 30 amp service to 50 amp service.  replace control board this AM and gen working fine on 30 Amp Circuit.

The 20 AMP shows bad ground on tester and only putting out 17 volts.

I notice there is no ground wire coming from generator to 20 amp plug just a neutral wire and hot wire neutral is yellow/black stripe or black with/yellow stripe.

The 30 amp plug has a ground wire to it can I tie that ground wire to the 20 amp Plug or ???

The board was toast 300 dollars seems to be correct now except for the above problem.

I have shut off the breaker to 20 amp circuit.

Thanks for all that looked but had no help. Got it fixed and loading up for the Great NorthWest won't be as many miles this summer but will head back to AZ come October. Have a nice summer.

Hi Larry,

I was attempting to write as you added the second message. My guess was that there was a bad connection from the generator end to the breaker that showed only 17V.  How close was I?

Good Luck and have a safe trip.

Real close Bob,

I noticed that the ground wire showed signs of heating  discolored so I cut off all connectors and redone em all and everything came back to normal.

What burnt the board was it was original which had a clear plastic covering on the PC board and bugs decided to make a home between the two which resulted in their cremation which also creamted the board.

The new updated board is sealed in Expoxy so it must of been a problem for them.
