Does anyone know what the preffered sealant would be to seal between new 134 hoses for a gauge set and the couplers for freon 134.  The connections are pipe thread.  Maybe Nick would.  Thanks,John

John,

Maybe I'm not following you on this. Are you talking about the tank fitting of the R-134A to your guages. If so, "O" rings are used.

Let me know if this is what you are talking about.

Nick, I am talking about the joint where the adapters screw on the end of the hoses that go to the gages.  There is a female pipe thread on the brass adapter and a male brass pipe fitting on the hoses. It was shipped with the couplers not assembled on the hoses.  This is not the end that hooks to the gages, it is the end that  would hook to the air conditioner system.  I hope this helps, help.  John

Hi John,

I will post some pics for you to better discribe the "sealent" you are takling about.

If you are talking about the NPT pipe thread that screws into the fittings, just use teflon tape..

Thanks Nick, I was afraid of contamination using the wrong sealant.  I bought a set of gauges to keep on board for the otr system.  Look forward to meeting You someday.  Again thanks.  John
