OK, this thing was laying inside my cargo bay.  What is it, where should I look for the replacement to make sure a replacement is actually there.

It looks like an old Air Dryer... Should be an AD-9 or AD-4 up front near the front axle.

Could also be any of a number of other types. they don't all take that form.. some are short and squat, some are long and narrow... some even have cooling fins. Look in your manual.

An AD-1 or AD-2 Bendix air dryer.

Wonder what might be up front between the front wheels in its place now?

happy coahing!

nice, I will look when between the wheels tomorrow.  Next two items.  the first is above my engine and leaks air, but only when its being aired from the land line air connection...why is that?  the other is in between the front wheels.  I assume this is my leveling valve.  How does, or how is this supposed to work?

Oh Oh ....I know what the first one is!

But I'm not allowed to answer any questions yet. That is best left to the big dogs. (I even know what the second one is.)

The first pic is the blower belt tensioner.  They are prone to leak.  Rebuild whatever's leaking...or replace it.  The cylinder is expensive.  The switch and regulator are cheap.  Be sure to set the regulator to the correct pressure if you change it out.
The belt tensioner switch allows the belt to be replaced easily.  Move it to the correct position and the tensioner retracts completely...when the bus is aired up.  The belt will almost fall off when in the released position.  Don't forget to return the valve to the "operating" position.
Some remove the belt tensioner air cyl and related leaking components and install a mechanical device to control the belt tension.   A big turn-buckle come to mind.. ::)
I'd fix it.
The other pix shows the front leveling valve.  Cheap and easy fix.  Replace it.  $45-$55 bucks.
Soak it with PB Blaster before trying to remove the air lines.
Welcome to buses!    ;)   Those little piddlin leaking air gizmos are everywhere.  Each one leaking its own tiny bit of air.   One step at a time.  You'll get there!

Answer anyway!   I'm a "little dog" (with big opinions!) and I throw my 'dos centavos' in.
If you answer something wrong...it'll be straightened out soon enough! I know from experience!  ;D

Reckon I've beat this thread a little too much.

OK, on the first pick it appears the cylinder is good and what is leaking is the regulator and possibly the switch also.  Can i just order them from MCI or is there a cheaper source?  I didn't get a super good feel for what was leaking...my 3 yr old daughter was tugging at my leg saying she wanted to drive super Betty again.  She'll be a busser to!  The wtf is an abbreviation of three words I bet I have said to myself 300 times since last Thursday when my bus arrived.   Thursday night about 11:30pm....I said to myself.....wtf was i thinking?...followed by....wtf am I going to do now?  Now, I think I'm over that...and I'm onto wtf is that....quite a bit.
