Hello Everyone,

Because of some health and personal issues I have taken longer to post these photos of the first bus rally we have attended this year.  This rally was organized for the "Southeast Busnuts" by Jerry & Rosemary Campbell from Mooresville, NC assisted by Jack Campbell and "Southeast Busnuts President", Mike & Carol Heron of Atlanta, Ga.

What a great rally, there was 27 member buses and their families and pets as well that attended at (Charlotte Lowe's Speedway), camping facility in NC.  We all had a great time, great food, we were also blessed to have a drive in come to our rally which turned out to be my "Bus Rally Feature Bus" which was a 1948 Silversides owned by Gene & Jeanie Russel from Tyron, NC.  Gene and his friend Glen Smith packed a (6L71-TA-DDEC) into this bus and what a great engineering job they did, look at the photos closely, you missed a lot by not seeing this bus in person.  These guys were amazing and in the class of Sonnie Gray and you all know what I think of him by now.

We ate really good using the dirt track facilities Skybox of Lowe's speedway donated by the track as construction was being had at the outside facilities we were to use.  The Lowe's speedway is in the middle of fabricating facilities for a brand new Drag Way track that is to open in September of 2008.

There was Breakfast fixed every morning by Mike & Carol Heron at their bus with the help of special friends and club members, we had meetings attended by all of club news and sign up up of new members.  There was a bus trivia contest on the last night of our rally that everyone got tested of their bus model information with questions asked by Mike Heron.  This took a lot of time to research but was fun to know what we really know about our particular buses!!

Our catered meal was really good but I enjoyed the good ole home cooking of our "Pot Luck Dinner" prepared by every member in attendance.  You could not put all the food we had in your plate if it were 4 ft. in diameter.  I tried!!  I have to tell you guys this was the greatest pot luck dinner ever.  That chicken casserole was my personal favorite, I nearly took the rest back to our S&S but it got all gone before I could!!

We were entertained with music after our dinner by Johny Hobbs, Wendle Bell, CS Bowman and JR. Lynch. Loved them ole Merle songs especially guys from me.

Thanks Mike, Carol, Jerry, Rosemary, Jack and all those I am not aware of for making this work this year and we hope to attend the next one as well.

There will be additional photos in a few more days that I will be receiving from Jack Conrad that you perhaps would also enjoy.  Make this site your favorite for a few days and I will post on this bb'd when those additional photos will be posted.  They will also be of buses that Jack took and also photos of Jacks personal Nascar Driving Experience of up to 160 MPH at Lowe's Motor Speedway while at our rally.  Oh, Jack & Paula I believe get an award for visiting I am told (20 Nascar Shops) while at our rally.  So to see photos of all Jack & Paula seen keep an eye on the post to see what you also missed by not coming to this rally.

Let me know of any mistakes in identifying these photos, I hope you enjoy.

What great photos...Thanks..  I only live about 15 miles from where you held the rally and wish now that I would have stopped by to see all those buses in person. It would have been a great place to get some ideas for my conversion. Thanks again for the photos.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

Many thanks Gary for your work with the pics!!  Sooooo much time goes into rounding up and accurately ID'ing everyone, editing the pix, and posting them in an organized manner.
I've spent a ton of time looking at all the albums.  A great bit of work!  Next best thing to being there!
And another thing...thanks for the grass (the lawn "grass")!  Jack and I have lush grass to park on.   All other buses are on gravel.  ;) :D ;D
We were parked in the "ritzy" area!  And I Gary's got pix to prove it!  ;)
The Saturday night meal was a hoot!  Terri insisted that I walk up and down the skybox stairs...Wilma made Ned climb the skybox stairs too...GADs that's a long climb!
Thanks to Mike and the Southeastern Busnuts for the nice RV toilet paper too.  Asking me to ID 25 builders of million plus bus conversions was a bit cruel (Po folk don't know these things  ???...but, I left with my pride intact!  ;)
Thanks to Jerry for hosting the event!  Very well organized and plenty to do!
We missed Linda and Kirby, and Cliff and Julie!
Next stop....Wade, NC KOA for Gene's and Darrell's "Busnuts" gathering!  Road TRIP!!!!! ;D ;D
We'll be at Denton, NC the weekend before.  If anyone wants a large dose of bluegrass music, that's a good place to be!  I park right in the center..come on down!

Cheers, JR and Terri

Jlink, what direction from LMS are you?   I'm about 25 miles, or so, Southwest of LMS.
Between Monroe and Charlotte.
Jerry's up near Mooresville.
There's going to be another bus rally May 15-18.  Location is Fayetteville, NC.  Camping isn't limited to coaches...any sort of camper or even a tent will work.   This rally will be held in a full-service KOA campground.  The location is Wade, NC, which is about 14 miles up I-95 from Fayetteville.
It's immediately off the Wade exit.  Won't have to go meandering around the countryside!  The drive is about 2 and a half hours from here.  Let me know and I'll be happy to send reg info for the May rally.
Watch for Kyle's Palmetto Cove Non-Rally too.  Really nice area...however, whatever you camp in must be totally self contained.  No facilities at Palmetto Cove.

BTW, if you look thru Gary's pics, you find some groups with interior shots.  The T'ville rally has interior pix.
