While the sounds of a great running DD are music to most of our ears, Gary, you must realize that the sample you chose is a GM Bus. Now, we know that Detroit's sound sooo much better when they're mounted in a quality Bus...say an Eagle or an MCI.  ;)

I just don't think that it's Kosher for an Eagle owner to try to draw our attention to one of those old buses!

With tongue in cheek and a Thank You for your efforts......

PS. The GM guys on the Yahoo.com groups have some mean sounding Detroit's too!

Let the record show that in my last post I was referring to the GM engine (which most of us refer to as DD's not the GM Buses.  Egads! I wouldn't wish the MCI Bus Gods to revoke my passport to Bus Heaven! :D

Ironically, Louise just posted our DD sounds over on RV.Net, in response to a thread over there about diesel sounds.  Here it is:

I have been trying for an hour to find a beautiful Eagle 8V71, stick shift and had no luck.  I took what I could find.  Thanks sean for sharing, if you guys got any more links, hook them up here, and crank up those Bose speakers and take a deep breath.  I can't wait for the real thing, I am getting things ready Mike, got me my new injectors!!  (8 of them),

Crank em up boys.

I knew this conversation had to come around sooner or later.  But this is the way it is.  DD engines sound best in GM buses.  Topping the list would be an 8V-71 with stick shift in a fishbowl, followed closely by the 6-71 also with a stick.

If you know of the whereabouts of a PD4501 Scenicruiser - I would like to add the serial number to my registry of surviving Scenics.  www.tomsgarageonline.com

Dallas,
You are absolutely right, Uncle Ned's bus has got the best sounding DD we have posted here.  I wish it were running longer and sliding through 1 /2 gear.  Sob, sob, I can't wait.
