Can anyone direct me to a site that has data on the L10, M11 and ISM engines?  I looked and all I got was a "sea" of sites but all had current engine data and no history or comparison charts/tables.

What information do you need?  Horsepower and torque for each engine?  Engine dimensions are the same all three, as is the weight within about 300lbs of each other.  Bore and stroke is the same on the M11 and ISM.  Let me know.  Good Luck TomC

Yes!  All that stuff.  I couldn't get squat about all the older engines.  There must be a ton of 400BC's out there.  What is wrong with them?  I wanted to look over all of the models and I know there must be tables that compare all the Cummins engines.  If the ISM can be jacked up to 500HP why aren't these Puppies going into buses by the score.  I just have a bucket full of questions and I am frustrated by not being able to get data to look at.  That comment about the L10 having an integrated aftercooler like the DD intrigued me and I wondered if the higher power versions, M11 and ISM had that feature also.

Yeah, whatever you can forward.  Nice!  Can I be the only one interested in this topic with Melbo and Mike doing engine conversions?

Previous post about 400BC nailed it with the weight being so much greater than the 6V92 that extensive reinforcement was needed.  Physical size created way too many problems to even consider that engine....from what I gathered from Tom's post.

When I first searched I did it on "cummins" and got a lot of data that did not answer my questions about the L10.  I did a search for "cummins L10" and got all that I thought I needed on comparison of HP between the L10, M11 and ISL.  The 11 and ISL are smaller and 500lbs(@) lighter and stronger.  I am sure the cost is up there also.

What I could not find was the relative efficiency between the three engines.  Anybody know where that might be found?

  to put it straight forward....

  L10 until L10E were mechanical fuel systems
  L10E, M11,  ISM are computer controlled.

  As with most of the diesel engines it was the advent of electronics that allowed for higher horsepower.

  From what I remember M11 later were air to air intercoolers.

Go to G...gle and type in "Pittsburgh Fuel Injection".  For a small $fee$ they will answer all your questions.  They helped me with the Big Cam 2 Cummins in my Crown Super Coach.  They also specialize in the older stuff and have an incredible knowledge base.  They also build hopped up Cummins heavy truck diesels.  :) :) :)

There are at least two Cummins L10's on the e place right now. Less than $5k so far.
