I need to wire something up for a trip I am going to make next week.  So time is not on my side.  Is it possible that I could wire additional 12V light pulles in series with the boat trailer to make it all 24v?  I often tow the trailer with a 12v truck so I really dont want to modify the trailer.  Is this gonna work?  Is there something better?

Hi Trevor,

Yes, that would work but, there is something better.. I just can't remember who has the diagram.
It uses a converter to drop the voltage down to 12 volts.

Someone refresh my memory Please.....  Maybe Jack Conrad knows

Trevor,
Another simple solution, if ya don't have time to build Gumpy's converter board is to take the bulbs you have now to NAPA and have them cross them with identical 24V bulbs and then you just switch bulbs for what ever your pulling it with ! FWIW ;D  BK  ;D

Of course a little bit easier way is to buy a set of portable tow lights and install 24V bulbs in them, and mount them on what ya tow'n. Whether it be boat, toad, trailer, mother n law, opps scratch that last one might get t=ya's in trouble!

I persuaded Craig to build one of his for me (for a nominal fee  ;D ) & I installed it. It works like a dream!
I highly recommend it!

We did a converter similar to Craigs, except we used "cube " relays. Here is the schematic and a photo of the completed panel.  The cube relays should have 24 volt coils.  The schematic shows the wiring to also convert from separate brake/turn signal lights on the bus to combined brake/turn signal lights on the trailer.  Jack
