I just installed the Dirt Devil central vacuum for RV's.  what a great little item.  The main unit is about 6 1/4" x 7" x 14 1/4" or so, but is a strong little sucker.  For a vacuum that uses the small 1 1/4 inch hoses, its the strongest I've seen.  It's nice because I was able to put it in a space that I couldn't use for anything else, on the passenger side in the air conditioning bay.  The only thing in the passenger compartment is the hose and the little door it plugs into.  Lift up the little door, and it starts the vacuum.  So its quieter too as the unit is down below.  and I  empty the unit from a bay, all the dirt is removed from the living area, so if spilled it doesn't matter.

It comes with a 7 foot hose that' stretches to 30 feet.  Since I put the outlet in the middle of the bus, just behind my dinette seats, it can reach all the way to the front or back without having to change anything.  It also comes with a neat turbo driven rug beater,  The turbo works just off the suction (not batteries) and does a surprisingly good job. this is the third vacuum I've had, the others just weren't doing the job.  The last one was a backpack vacuum, but after it opened up twice and dumped a load all over the bus, it just got replaced.

This one can be installed as a remote unit.

Finally I can keep the bus clean.  easily.  Did I say I'm lazy, and if its too much work to drag out or drag around, I won't do it?  This unit is easy enough I will use it.  I'm very pleased.  $252 for the complete kit.  worth it.

Sorry Jim, but I laughed my @$# off for a good 10 minutes when I mentally visualized these two events...and what followed.

It was kind of a comical event, although I was not saying nice things at the time.  Drivers seat, all around it, my laptop, keyboard, upper stairs, into a cabinet, etc.  Not pretty.  had a full 3 months worth of junk in it.  Yes, the air was turning blue that day.

Buying the backpack seemed like a good idea, but just did not work out.  I was constantly banging it on things as I turned around, and the cord would then wrap around stuff too. I could just make it down the stairs to the outside, but only if I turned just the right way.

And the Dirt Devil has a lot more suction too!

Thanks for another five minutes of laughs, Jim! You filled in all the gaps for me, and then some.  ;D

Another helpful cleaning tip.  I dust using compressed air.  My theory is that it blows that dust off all the surfaces into the air.  Since most of the house area is floor, most of the dust must settle on the floor where it can then be vacuumed up. Martha Stewart ain't got nothing on me!
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Since I go to the desert a lot, my first step in cleaning the bus is to get in there with my leaf blower and blow it all out first.  Then vacuum, then "dust" then wipe it all down.  The blower works great on the bays too.  although I am careful not to blow out a screw or something else that could give me a flat.
