MCI 7 CONDENSER BAY

I will be removing the OTR air conditioning and replacing it with a ductless split system; I would like to install the condenser in the empty MCI 7 condenser bay, but the height of the bay is only ~28". The baggage bay beside has an interior height of ~34", so there is something above the condenser bay (maybe a duct) that I would like to remove.
This has probably been done many times before, but I want to know what I'm in for before I start.
Comments?
Thanks.

If you take out the entrance ramp you will be able to see what is in that area.

On our MC-8, that space was a void filled with fiberglass insulation. We installed louvers in the exterior skin above the condenser compartment, added a couple baffles in the void and cut an opening in the floor of that space. This is the air intake for our generator (installed in OEM condenser bay). If I recall correctly, there was a steel framing member in that area.  Jack

Great post Mark!  I also have an MCI 7 and I thought the floor was all that was up there!  I went out in the snow to check, and I suspect Jack is right and we have the same thing there for heat protection and sound deadening.

Jack:

Thanks for the insight.
Assuming I can cut away everything above the factory condenser area up to the floorboard, I can place the ductless condenser in this preferred location. We'll see if the structural member is going to interfere or can be removed without causing grief.

Best regards.
