Can anyone think of a use for a 24v 9 gpm pump?

I am going through my odds and ends and getting rid of stuff to make room for new parts for my new bus.  I came across a 24V Jabsco reversible flexible impeller pump that flows about 9 gpm.  Can anyone think of a use for this with my conversion?  I plan on my house setup to be 12v with my conversion since parts and lights are more readily available for this.  Any drawbacks to 12V or reasons to go with 24V?

I can't think of any possible uses at all for that pump! So just to help you get rid of it I'll give you my address & I'll give you my address and you csn send it to me & I'll see too it that it gets desposed of properly! LOL! Seriously it could be used as a primer pump. a radiator mister pump, a transfer pump, you name it!

24 volt pump usually uses less current than a 12 volt one to operate. 
It will come in very handy in the near future, as BK has already said....lol.

I think most people go with a 24 volt house system if the bus is 24 volt system. The power hogs are inverters, heating systems, refrigerators etc.  These all operate more efficiently on 24 volts with smaller wire so less cost. You can also charge the house batteries with the 24 volt engine alternator and for the small 12 volt loads such as lights you can use a battery equalizer like a Vanner.

Another big advantage of a 24 volt system is smaller wire sizes.  Even at 24 volts I need 4/0 wire to my inverter.  I would need even bigger wire at big expense for a 12 volt system.  ( I was lucky to find a friend who sold me a bunch of 4/0 welding wire for basically scrap price.)

You aren't going to find anything heavy duty enough (at least at any reasonable cost) to drive a 12 volt inverter of any real size from a 24 volt alternator.

You can use that pump to share your fuel with others 

Some aren't able to afford the visits to the fuel stations. Think of the happiness you could provide to others . . .

Two uses that come immediately to mind would be a Fuel system priming pump  or a backup fuel pump if you will.... or a Pre lube pump to fill the oil gallery before you start your engine.

My imagination usually doesn't kick in until after I've had my second cup of coffee.......

Your 24 volt DC pump will work on 12 volts DC and pump half the volume. Unless you r pump has a special impeller, they should not be used on petroleum fuel.
You say that the pump is reversible, but only by taking out the impeller and installing it in a reverse position. A Jabsco flexible impeller pump has the rubber vanes bent so that they are in a trailing position. If you reverse the motor, the vanes are torn off if the motor has enough power to turn the pump.

   I believe you might be incorrect in your statement that the impeller needs to be taken out and reversed.  I have a 12v one that is identical to this one in my boat and it is reversible via reversing the current to it.  There is no need to remove or disassemble anything.

You may well have a different model than the ones that I had. I had one Jabso water pump and two Jabso macerator pumps and when I reversed them it promptly broke of two vanes and then it ran fine in either direction but with less volume.

In looking at the Jabsco pump site, I see pumps where they specify which wire is to be connected to positive and others which are reversible. Check your model number to be sure.
