 Hi guys,  Just checked my trans fluid level, not even on the stick. Not having  manual, what type of trans fluid is recomended?  Gerry

The question is, what is in there now?

You probably shouldn't mix oils/weights.

Can you loosen the drain plug enough to get a few drops to check it out.

did that earlier. there is oil in it - doesn't smell like gear oil, looks more like engine oil.

Not enough info, but most Fullers come with 50 motor oil. My rebuilder gets upset if I use anything other than gear oil. I have never used more than 5 gallons to change an overdrive Fuller. A hand pump for a 5 gallon pail is about $40. You can spend from $35 up for what ever you choose to run for lube. I would look up the capacity and just change it out, for no more than it costs how could you go wrong?

  Another question is why is yours low? I'd look for leaks before useing the pricey synthetics. (if compatible)  Maybe fill up with 30 wt just to find leaks before draining to change.

  I'm just a tightwad. I dont mind paying for a better product but don't like to see it run out on the ground.

What Ed said....first.

Syn is the way to go.  Less friction.  Thinner when cold.  Runs cooler.  Better MPG for certain but you may not be able to find it but maybe you will see .25MPG.  BETTER lubricant and compatibility can be verified.  In a limited slip diff you don't need the additive...that makes it "CHEAPER" than dino stuff.  Make sure you get "FULL or STRAIGHT" synthetic...not blended.

Yeah like Ed said, make SURE it doon't leak if you're thinking of going synthetic.  Have you priced a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff?
As I recall the 5 gallon bucket of Mobile Delvac fluid 50 I got for my new tranny  was over $300 !!  Yikes!!!

I bought the Road Ranger approved 50wt synthetic oil for my Eaton Autoshift from a tractor trailer repair shop.  I bought the oil from their bulk tank into my own containers for about a 50% savings over what the local Freightliner shop was charging.

Before you change the oil got to www.roadranger.com and look up your transmission.  Once you find your transmission you can get all the manuals you want including the maintenance manual.  This manual will tell you exactly what kind of oil to use.

My Transmission is a Fuller T-11605D and you know I surfed until I was drowning and could not get any info on this trans other than  the gear ratios. ah-ah-ah-ah-ah. All I need to know is how much it takes. I think i'll fix all the leaks and go with synthetic.  Gerry

Thank you very much,  In their specs it says not to use synthetics , was that back when they  originally  built this trans. Does that still hold today?
