Someone leaned something against the rubber fender that surrounds the right front wheel well on my MC5a.  Being a little old, it ended up with about an 8 inch split.  Has anyone ever tried to repair those?  I thought of using JB Weld or black Sykaflex.  But am not sure it is worth the effort.  I could always go for the more streamline look and just remove it, but I sort of like them although not a whole bunch of money worth.

I've only seen people use some metal behind them and screws through the rubber.  I had some tear on my old GMC, and once they start to go, they flap while driving and continue to tear.  Either way, they don't look good once they start to go.  Call Luke at US coach.  I think they are still less than $100.00.  Good Luck!

Lin,

I had one starting to crack on my 4905, I ended up cutting it off, but still leaving the piece behind the trim.

I thought it looked 100% better without them, so I cut them all off.

If I was on the road 5 days a week, 12 hours a day I might want them, but I am a weekender.

The small difference in wheel spray is of no consequence to me.

Best of luck

Thanks, great link.  I will cut this one off and, if I don't like the look, I'll order a new one.  The one on the other side is cracked too, so I could replace both and even choose a slightly different style.  I do not have them on the back.  Did the back have fenders originally?

Lin I think you will find that you can't get those anymore....

Lin, years ago when I had an MCI 5 I replaced all of my rubber ones with aluminum ones from IBP in FL  I don't know if they are still available or not but you could check

Lin

MCI parts has it for a bit over $100. each, but buying it by the foot from Austin hardware looks like the best way to go if we do replace them.

Be sure that you can return them to MCi if not correct.  Unless you gave them a specific number I might suspect you will get a product for a newer coach

arn't the MC-5 once molded?

Howdo you intend on getting the linear material to form into the needed arch

Lin

Although it is a good chance I am wrong, I thought that they would be shapable.  Since they sell it by the foot, it may even be off a roll.  Anyway, I would have to clarify this with the vendor.

We used the stuff from Austin on our CJ-5 several years ago.  Although it comes in a roll and is sold by  the foot, we were able to bend it to the CJ-5 wheel well opening with no problems. Just start at one end and screw it to the opening as you go.  Jack
