Thank you!  I'm going to look into this once I get it back from paint.

Thank You for resurrecting this thread.  I did get a fuel gauge installed.  I ordered something but I don't remember what (the paperwork is in my homemade owners manual) that came with the gauge and a float that was attached to a sender.  It came with the five screw cover per Tom C.  (Tom I hope you are well and your truck is coming along) but it did not reach the bottom of the tank so I did some modifications.  I took pictures and everything of the process for later reference.  Then I drove on a road trip and watched the fuel gauge to be sure it would move and indicate fuel consumption.  Per RJ I did have a hubometer and checked the mileage as I drove.  I knew how many miles I got per gallon on a general basis and when I had reached what should be a half tank per the data plate at the fuel tank fill door I stopped and adjusted the float arm to indicate a half (half full half empty) tank on the fuel gauge.  I has worked just fine for me since I got it adjusted. It stays on full longer than it should but when it starts to move down I can plan my fuel stops.  If I go too much below a half tank my generator will not get fuel. I was unaware that I could just order one from MCI.  That would have been much simpler but if simple was what we wanted we all would probably just buy some cookie cutter motor home.
