Bus Conversions Magazine reminiscing.

Just received the December 2007 issue of Bus Conversion Magazine and it started me reminiscing about how far the magazine has come since its first issue in February 1992 (which had the wrong year on the cover).
For those who don't have a copy of that issue, it was just 40 pages on stock just a little heavier than newsprint.

I came on board as editor for the July '92 issue after telling Mike about my favorite instrument to pick, which is the nit. I saw the first two issues and it drove me crazy that there was such a fantastic source of information for the Bus Nuts of the world and they needed to be able to read it without being distracted by such things as the difference between "their" and "there" and whether or not there was an apostrophe in "its."

It was a great ride through the March '94 issue when I realized I still had "itchy feet" and went back out on the road in my 4106 - "Whither Then."

Oh, the days of trying our best to get the magazine sent out by the first day of the printed month on the cover, and the arguments about how much white space there should be. (I didn't win that argument but thank goodness some later editor did.)

Mike put me on an incentive program and so at one time the magazine was up to 120 pages (that didn't last long - the incentive program that is).

I've seen many improvements over the years and I am looking forward to the new ones coming up in the January issue.

I am ready to purchase the online version only! I had years of old magazines laying around and eventually scanned a few good articles for my own library. The rest recycle. I would love to have an entire PDF searchable library at my fingertips for reference during a project or repair.

The BUSNUTS Library of Congress sure sounds good to me.

Mike and I live in California, the Govenor is pushing green technology in a big way and since MAK is published in CA, shouldn't we try and go GREEN?
You know, say a tree or Woodchuck ;D

I look forward to the new style, I hope they put a big section in for the DIY busnut. A detailed project with plans, materials...... and the like was a very exciting part of getting the mag each month.

Perhaps for those of us who were past subscribers, it would be nice to have access to the magazine (online) to check it out and resubscribe.

Thanks Mike for all you do!

Happy Holidays

The online version of the magazine will be available with the Feb issue. A new subscription form is in the Jan magazine and will be on line in a few days. The new site is in the works to handle this so give us a few trials and maybe a few errors when it starts.
Also, on the new site will be a place where you can upload a short video of your favorite campground... as well as down load one (Free stuff). For people planing a trip, it really is GREAT to get some kind of idea before you book a spot and arrive and wish you didn't. Also will have available short video downloads for bus repairs, projects and bus shells.  Its really taking shape and going to be fun and informative. So start taking short 1 to 4 minute videos of campgrounds around the US and send them to us. We will have a link to do so on the new site. Nothing is in concrete, so let me know of problems.
The Online version will be the same as the printed magazine at $45 per year. Yes you can get both with a big discount. Details in a few days.

Stunning. Mike, you are about to surpass my expectations. I figured it would take a year. This is indeed good news. What got into you? :)

Here's looking at even greater success for your publishing empire!

Mike a friend of mine gave me a copy of Dec magazine and the subscription rate is 38.00 when does it go to 45.00

mak

The rate will take effect when people renew the old subscriptions as they expire or for new subscribers on Jan 1. The rates the same for snail mail or online. People who already have longer subscription are not affected until it runs out. (Moral of that is always renew for the longer period, because we know that cost are going to rise, such as postage, labor cost, printing cost, fuel and transportation cost, collage tuition, (I was kidding). I really am excitied about the new and improved magazine. iy will take a few months to get it all done, but we are working it hard and fast.
