Roadtrip Update

Hi All,

Just a quick update on the trip south...

Currently in Redding, CA after our first night stateside in Castle Rock, OR.  It's good to be back in the good 'ol USA, professional truckers and all.  Interesting what you can learn about road ettiquete from these guys as you grind up passes like Ashland Mountain in 2nd gear with the hazards flashing.  Cool bunch.  We eavesdropped on an interesting conversation btw two truckers.  The one guy was doing his last long distance trip b4 retirement after 42 years on the road.  He seemed pretty busted up talking to his buddy about the good old days.  Said it was the hardest trip of 'em all.  My wife and I were both misty after listening for 10 minutes or so.

We are making pretty good headway and the kids are adapting to life on the road.  I thrilled with the mileage per gallon we're making...10.25 GPM according to my calculations.  Diesel's a little more expensive than I thought.  I guess the site I looked at b4 the trip was giving prices/gal with the PUC tax reduction.

Anyways, gptta run 'n get some rest for the run to Bakersfield tommorow.
