Roughly how much fuel is left when the low fuel idiot light goes on?

go fill and let us all know....I have never gotten that low, which is probably danger low as far as Volume and picking up crap off the bottom of the tank

honestly, couldn't tell you for sure, but more than one busnut has gunked up thier fuel filters good by getting to the bottom of the tank after having no problems before the low fuel level use.

Yes! But let's pretend we're not playing rocket sceintist here for a moment! When there is PLENTY of fuel the trash lays ON THE BOTTOM, and is pretty much undisturbed unless you drive like a madman (opps wait a minute I remember how you fly out of a service bay @ 70 MPH with extention cords still plugged into the shop wall & running into the coach!). Ok if you drive normal w/fuel the trash on the bottom is just laying there all settled! Now let the fuel level get low right above the trash and start sloshing abit, now what happens to the trash on the bottom? Exactly it gets stirred up and flows right into the pick up with the fuel it is mixing with! A fuel tank can be compared to a river/lake take a deep lake or river and you don't even notice the movement (hence the old saying "still water runs deep" and no they ain't talk'n about about moonshine stills either! That water runs in small mountain streams {close to the still}), but let that river get shallow and ad some rocks! What ya got then? Rapids and have ya ever noticed how the water in rapids keeps stirred and full of "white water" which is caused by it splashing and collecting large amounts of air!
So yes the technical answer is yes, most fuel tank pickups do pick up from the bottom! But if the river runs deep it is still! Makes sense to me!

I learned from my dad, who by the way used to make some of the best white lightning next to a pretty little mountain stream in WVa, God rest his soul, to listen to a man who has went through the school of hard knocks, over a class room scholar who has never turned a wrench or made good corn mash hooch. Well not being really familiar with these tanks, while I'm low is there a way to drain and flush it clean or is that a losing battle likely to cause more trouble than it's worth or be more hassle than it's worth?
Is there a line low on the tank or?

Don't know bout an 8, My 9 capacity 179 gal with only 160 useable. Don't ask how I know.

I never let ours get below 1/4 th. Just nervous I guess....... Besides don't want to suck up anything that won't burn.....

If you get the fuel too low, make sure you have a spare set of filters.

I once let mine get way down (No gauge and a left out a trip in estimate of MPG)

I filled up with 130 gallons and took a turn 1/4 mile to the interstate, halfway up the ramp it felt like I ran
out of peddle. Drove about another mile trying to figure out whats wrong(I'm Full after all) and pulled over.

Filter looked like a black sock was wrapped around it, degunked it and washed in some diesel from the spare 2 gallons of diesel I carry,  Ahh, the screaming Jimmy came back to life.

Checked the filter after the 30 mile ride home and just had a little more junk, put in new filter.

Checked after next 500 mile trip, fine.
