An easier question (more fun at least)

   Since I have not been to a bus gathering and besides the fun and camaraderie it seems that at most of
these events there comes a time when the karaoke and/or instruments break out into an entertaining night.

   What are the favorite songs or standards if you will.
   If I can put together a list then at least when I can show up I won't feel like a bump on a log.
   It would also help others with limited practice time to at least look at a play list.
 
   W/ BK now in full swing and the Texas rally coming up if someone could keep track, it will at least be a start.

Hey Skip...........finally something I really know about. I was the "Voice" and Entertainment Director for the World Famous "Turkey Run"  for 20 years. The show was held every year on Thanksgiving weekend at the Daytona International Speedway. We used to get over 5,000 show cars, 3,500 vendors and more than 150,000 spectators every day the show was open.

Wow, I haven't heard those lyrics for what seems like a century. I guess our music taste change with time. Today, I prefer anything, as long as it it early country or bluegrass. Jack

Coming to take me away..... now were showing our age......Hello mother hello father here I ama......

I have to admit (the shame is mine) when it comes to blue grass I don't even know any titles to songs; love listening
but never paid any attention to song titles.

   Early country....T.E. Ford, George Jones, Tex Ritter, 50's and 60's or earlier? or later?
   More contemparary "sweet home alabama ", "Dallas went to BK's sung to (the devil went to Georgia") Need a good fiddle player for that one

these style an option?
    Classic rock....Proud Mary, Magic Bus (Who), etc
    Gospel.......
    Folk........ 

   No matter what genre' there are certian songs everyone seem to like and are classices around the buses.
   That is the list maybe one for  each Genre'

Janet (MissLazy) got a standing ovation at the Los Angeles County Fair karaoke event a few years ago for her rendition of Stand By Your Man. She has a very large collection of mostly country and western karaoke CD's. Even some eight tracks and 33-1/3 albums.

I've got a ton of karaoke stuff on my laptop that I have collected over the years. It's pretty neat having it on the laptop because you have the monitor built right in. Just need some kind of sound system to plug it in to.

I have never found any software that would allow me to copy karaoke to my computer. Any hints? By the way, I am now an east coast guy almost. WV

Well for me, classic country is country from 50's through mid 70's. George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr, Tom T. Hall, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, early Alabama, etc.  As far as Bluegrass, I prefer more traditional such as Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, The Osborn Brothers, etc.  Of course, my all time favorite song is..... can you guess?...... What else but ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL. I prefer the instrumental version (especially by Chubby Wise, who wrote the song and we had a honor of meeting and becoming good friends with before he passed away), better than the version with lyrics by Johnny Cash.  Jack

Classic country is how I made my living for a long time so when karaoke came out, I collected quite a bit of it for fun.  But then I got other stuff too just because I know everyone doesn't have as good of taste in music as we do!

At our rallies, the guitars (& fiddles, mandolins, banjos, dobros and even upright basses come out BEFORE the Karoke.  Jack

countyr music lost me in about 1973,i can't quite understand some of this new stuff.  i am realy a bluegrass gospel fan from the 50's and up to now. i will be playing at a senior get together on sat.  one of my best crowds i have played to was at the school that my daughter teachs pre K at.they like every thing you can throw at them.   4 year old.  thanks jt.
